Make the diplomacy dialogs for offering/asking cash/influence modal, so you can't leave it open, forget to click OK, make the deal, and realise you have just given one nice dreadnought for free instead of 600bc. Make the AI attack immediately when it declares war. Currently, I attack Torians. They are allied with Arceans. Arceans tell me "well, we are allied to the Torians, so let's go to war". They don't make a move yet. I can destroy one of their ships and then sue for peace (usually for a

Star Pilot raises good points. Here is my opinion: Hard limit is bad. A logistics tech sounds good but I won't usually build lots of constructors until late in the game, on planets which have nothing better to do. Why would I waste time researching that tech? I'd end up with planets totally useless by the end of the game, since they couldn't even crank out a constructor worth something. So although it is an interesting addition, it doesn't solve the problem. To me, diminishing

-Remove or tweak the "invulnerable freighter" vote event. See http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=43406 for a detailed explanation. The ai is too easy to beat if this event happens. -Provide a means to choose the sorting of planets (name/class/socail prod etc.) by drop down menu or something like that. I hate circling through the options and clicking the small arrows. A pulldown menu or whatever where we see al the choices available and click one instead of browsing each of them would

I got the vote for "should freighters no longer be attacked by ships". The effect of this vote made freighters invulnerable in space. I immediately proceeded to build a nice fleet of freighters. Their bieng impossible to target makes them very useful shields. The ai doesn't seem to realize that, however, and will often do two silly things: 1) Leave a dreadnought or two by my freighter, looking like it wants to attack it, but forgetting it is not legal. 2) Let itself be surrounded by frei

"Regardless of the size of the map in this genre of games, there is no impact on how hard the game will be." I disagree. On tiny maps, the ai advantage of knowing yellow stars is much bigger than on big maps. ~SDC~

I get almost repeatible crash to desktop in the diplomacy screen: I ask for a few bc from a minor race. That race has less than 100bc (82 or so). The slider starts at 100bc, I want to move the slider to the left and crash! instead of adjusting itself to 81 or so. I get many crashes with that slider. ~SDC~

I agree that SB tend to grow in numbers only in the player's territory. Thus AI should build some more. AI will target starbases, but they seem to prefer targetting resources and then ships. They also don't realize culture SB outside their sectors are dangerous. The solution for exponential decrease in effectivity seems like a good one. I think that there is one thing between upkeep cost and star systems that could be done, which is require population for starbases. You would depopul
