Digital Distribution has matured by leaps and bounds since GC2. Its hear to stay, and its by far cheaper for studios to offer this (savings of course are not passed down to the consumer) - I haven't bought anything on physical media in a few years. I think the only frontier left is the concept of software license brokering. Steam and others will get there one day.

I'm not sure if there are tags for that. From the filtering options, when looking for ships, you can only filter on hull size. T hen, there is the steam generic workshop sortings of things like "most recent, most popular, etc". Having never designed a ship and uploaded it, I'm not aware of any tag in the ship design to make it "dedicated" for a specific race/faction. If there is a way to do that, then yeah, faction based ship filters would be g
1.1 "is" final. Its being advertised for the public on steam. Everyone is upgrading to it (or has the ability without an opt-in). After I got the final v1.1 update patch (final opt-in equals final v1.1), I finally had the ability to disable the opt-in in the properties-beta tab. Opt-in was still there besides the game name, until I 'launched' the game. After quitting, I checked, and opt-in is gone. AND, if I go to the beta tab, there is no opt-in av
Stardock's IT department must be amazing with their appropriation of PC HW upgrades, or they have an amazing CEO which ensures them the best tools to work with :) :) But in all seriousness, I think Seilore's statements revolves around the question of whether it is the customer's or support's responsibility to reproduce issues, using their own platform as a testbed with varying differences in the use case (less planets, more planets, large maps, small map
[quote who="PackmanX" reply="3" id="3571644"] On a side note, is it just me or does it seem like defending a planet is damn near impossible. From your screen shot, how does the attacker win so easily in that scenario? It's got a much lower "power" rating and much lower population. WTF?! Due to the ineffective use of military resources by the AI, mass reduction is the indisputable king of optimizations. Anything you can do to increase the efficiency of your logistics points will pay off in spades.
That's the standard procedure the support staff goes through when they have exhausted their ability to correct the issue, but believe the issue still exists. Irrespective of priority or severity. Its now in the hands of the devs. I honestly wish they wouldnt close the tickets - this is great for their own metric purposes, but now we (the community) have lost track of reported defects which are not fixed. And it would be nice for the communit
Censorship issues aside, I am no longer having problems with deleting factions after updrading to Final v1.1 (no optin anymore). I can fully delete them by deleting the faction in the New Game - Choose Cilivization screen. I verified that also once doing this, I am no longer subscribed to that faction in Steam Workshop. I am assuming the correction was made with the final v1.1 released today. Without documentation however, we'll never know.
Via the in game Ship Designer, you will see "Steam WorkShop" (used to download) and "Upload to Steam" options in the bottom left.
Ship Design uploads/downloads are done via the in game Ship Designer menu. You will see both options at the bottom left of the Ship Designer screen.
Via GC3 itself. Via New Game, at the Choose Civilization screen, you can select any faction (except those default factions provided by SD), and click "Upload to Workshop". Any new race you of course create will be displayed here as well. It will even allow you to "re-upload" factions which you have already downloaded from steam workshop, if you decide to tweak them to your liking and share again with the community. Steam is not checking for content however, as you can uploa

You might want to try to put the GlobalInterColonyMods object in MapSizeDefs.xml, and deleting it from GalCiv3GlobalDefs.xml. I just noticed that the tiny mapsize object has no GlobalCombatMods object, however all other mapsizes do. I have no idea if GC3's XML parser would allow adding GlobalInterColonyMods to MapSizeDefs.xml, but it might (the fact that both GlobalInterColonyMods and GlobalCombatMods are in Galciv3GlobalDefs.xml, and Map
I'm highlighting this defect again (as others have in the past), as I am not aware of the v1.1 optin update details between June 17 and July 9 (final V1.1). This defect has a very large impact to the game, due to the fact that as long as you are victorious in your invasion, no consequences are given to the attacker. Hence, an unfair advantage to attacking races, or those races that first develop planetary invasion technology: <img src="http://i.imgur.com
This is new in v1.1. They dont want the console window to be a "default" option for players. You should only be able to go in there if you know (or if you think you know :) ), what you are doing. As this is a beneficial test function, but nevertheless 'primarily' meant for star dock, they dont have to formally support it as it is now NOT part of the 'standard installation package'. Hence, if you find a strange bug, its certainly wise to re-test it witho
Thats a good concept, but yeah, not design intent. Hopefully that idea would be considered in a future economy/government DLC.
If you use steam, goto library and right click on the Galciv3 game, and you will see properties. After that, in the default General Tab, click on the launch options button. Here, type in "cheat" and this will be added to the process launch of galciv3. For those that dont have steam, you will need to create a shortcut item of the Galciv3.exe, and then right click on it and go to properties. Notice the TARGET LINK, which has the direct path and name of t

I applaud the efforts Derek, but I'm starting to get concerned with SD's testing strategy, if you need a community save file to see this problem.
I've had the same problem Franco, its not just you. I can only assume that there is a bug with either the faction upload mechanism or the faction download mechanism. In general, I would say 25% of the factions I have downloaded via steam workshop have this problem.

It also depends on the tech. Pretty much all races have buildings better than durantium refineries at the age of war, giving much better than the +2 adj bonus from the refinery. In early game without that tech, then yes, refinery is better. But if its not an extremely low pop world or you have the tech (including better food, approval, and terraforming techs to get that pop up), then I would say the refinery has outlived its purpose. Not worth it IMO as an isolated bui
