There is really nothing about Star Control that is not just an arcade version of the fully linked SFU.
I'm reading this thread from scratch--I got here late--and I have to say...it sounds to me, Kavik, that any spaceship game can be square-peg-in-round-holed to become an unquestionable rip-off of your precious Star Fleet Battles. But, I gotta say, it just ain't so.
The ga
UQM had about 3,800 astral bodies in total, including moons and gas giants.
Okay, my count of roughly 600 (I may've miscounted; it was a long list) was of stars rather than astral bodies...I'd gotten the impression that SCO had 3,000+ star systems , but maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm not. Cuz that would be amazing.
You are missing a lot of elements of this because those elements have never appeared in a computer game before.
See, I don't think I am; I read your description...perhaps you haven't done such a great job, if my responses are "missing a lot".
I'm pretty sure people would want to play actual multiplayer games much more than single player games where other people are playing them at the same time.
See, you keep saying "actual m
I'd like to second that; I've got more than a few questions, asked 'em already in this forum...dying to know the answers.
Golly, I hope not. Sick to death of remakes, reboots, reimaginings, and sequels that come decades too late; excepting the exceptions-that-prove-the-rule of :Deadpool" and "ready Player One", I can't remember the last time Hollywood made something new and good. Heck, apparently there i a live-action version of "Dumbo" coming out, and I'm like, "Are you @#$%ing kidding me...?" If video games are going to start being the same...ugh. I'm
(This could not have come across my Facebook feed at a better time.)
...you have honor? [e digicons]:D[/e]
Aw, there are MMOs that have PvP modes. I don't really prefer those, however; I'd rather have games with a good reason for co-op play...an AI enemy that'll stomp us all into dirt if we don't defeat it. (I think there was such a game, where the universe would reset itself every few weeks if the players or the enemy won. Can't remember what that was, tho...)
We add side quests constantly.
Ah. Sounds cool. Can't wait. :)
Yes to isometric ship views....
Yeah...that's really my only wishlist-item right now. Everything else is curiosity, really. Like...will there be an alien-crafter to go along with planets and ships? I mean for the story-building mode...or will we have to use the shipped SCO species? I'd love a Spore-style alien builder...I'm just curious how that'll work.
Well, there isn't much else I feel I'd want now, given what I've seen so far. There is one thing and I posted about it, but I don't even know whether they've read it; there were no replies, not even telling me to get stuffed, so... Basically, I was asking for improvement in ship selection, making the icons more of a front view than top--some ships I've built are really hard to identify from above; even just a slight angle would b
So far anyway. I add about 20 to 30 a day as the story requires.
Are you saying the story isn't finished yet?
I swear they said the SCO number was in the thousands. Maybe I'm wrong--I only heard that in a video, and I don't wanna go digging, but I could swear that's what they said.
502? No. Way closer to 600; I counted.
Okay, I went to one of those sites and counted; you're welcome. I got to five hundred ninety-six, but I probably missed out one or two...call it 600. ...for whatever that's worth.
I'm finding a lot of lists of SC2 star systems, but none of them have a total, a count. Frustrating. ...but it's definitely less than 3,000, which--if I remember correctly--is roughly the number we're promised by Stardock. So...
Okay, a less flippant answer: I don't know. I really don't; "playing it" was actually quite honest, even if I was being a brat. I mean, there are so many aspects to a Star Control game, and I could never pick a favorite. And I don't know all of the changes that have been made and whether they will enhance the experience or make me go, "Oh, puh- LEASE! "; what I've seen so far looks cool, but...you never know. So many re-boots, re-makes, and sequels to gam
What are YOU most excited about for Star Control: Origins?
Playing it.
Originally posted this in the main forum; forgot this sub-forum existed. Maybe I'm the only one having this difficulty, but I often find it a little challenging to pick out a ship during the selection process, and a huge part of that is the disconnect between the ship I've crafted and the icon created for it. For example: </p
Oh, yeah. Didn't see that. My bad. Still...September. I hate waiting; patience is NOT one of my virtues.
Anyone who doesn't love Star Control eats yellow snow. That right. You heard me. [e digicons]:hrmph:[/e] I actually haven't been waiting for a good SC sequel for years...cuz after SC3, I thought the franchise was dead. When I heard about SCO and saw what content was already available, it awakened such childish glee as the world has never seen. And that's only grown the more I see. Also...I've never played Sin of a
That music stirs up sooooo many old memories. But...when? WHEN?

I'm betting it's a game spoiler and that's why nobody from Stardock has answered. Like I said in the OP.
Killing you? I'm not exactly living up patience to its fullest! You can release something early. It's cool. I won't tell. ;)
