I wish you could do more. I know Star Control isn't, like, a strategy, take-over-the-galaxy kind of game, but I think it'd be fun to be able to do it. Like, if the Scryve have taken over a system, you can fight them and take it back...but you can only do it with systems they've conquered; you can't change the map by taking systems they controlled at the beginning of the game.

There've been some people on the Steam forum who've been real jerkwads about that.
Much like SC2, over the length of a FULL play through, you won't be spending as much time on planets.
Yes, I will.
Once you get past a certain amount of building up the main ship and fleet, you'll be ignoring planets that only have 1 RU or 5RU resources and only landing when you see unidentified objects / gold / green / purple resources.
Actually, I started doing that pretty much right aw
First, let me get this out of the way. I have read/listen/watched many reviews for SCO, and many say the same thing. That it is boring collecting the resources. I 100% disagree with this, I think this is the heart of the game
I have to agree. When Stardock said that the player would be spending, what was it, 10% of their time on planets, I was like, "Whaaaa...? Did you guys even play Star Control 2???" I mean, they stayed true
Unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure I deleted all of the beta folders. But I can look... ...yep. All I see is "Star Control - Origins". And, early on, I deleted everything from the SC folder in "My Games" (except the saves; I copied those to the desktop and them re-copied after).

I thought I did both, but I can check... ...yes. Both.
I don't know how you guys are gettin' that. I did all the steps above and my load times are still more than a minute.
Awesome. I had no idea...that's pretty cool. Thanks. :)
Thanks! :)

You remember when you were letting people name planets? I know you named one after me, you posted pictures of it. I can't find it...the planet or the pictures. Remind me?
The game will let you know that you don't need to land on every crummy planet if you're landing on a bunch of crummy planets. #1 negative review source has been people landing on thousands of planets and thinking that's the way to make money. Okay, I swear you guys took my name suggestion--"Fahr", my last name--and you even posted a picture of it, but now I can't find it. ...here or in the galaxy. Not that I've explored everywhere yet, but still.

I think everybody in this conversation needs to stop holding back and tell us how they really feel.
I'll take a game that's basically what we're getting: something that keeps the spirit of Star Control 2. Sure, I would have liked a proper sequel to SC2 that pretends SC3 never happened, but what I've seen so far is gonna make me happy. I remember when that revamp of Master of Orion came out...it might've been okay if it hadn't been for one weapons-grade deal-breaker: travel was only possible along star-lanes instead of free travel from star to star as long as t
Well, whatever floats your ducky, I guess.
That's some pretty hard-core all-or-nothing, dude. Baby? Bathwater? Bah! Who needs 'em! Now, if you had a large enough base behind you--couple thousand, hundred thousand, maybe the better part of a million--Stardock might go, "Whoa. Okay. Problem for sales, here." But somehow I think they can weather the loss of one customer; your protest, in the end, ain't gonna mean squat. Not without more people--a lot

How about a load that takes place before the actual release, then?
