If it is NVidia 7 series related then I am worried as I am running a 7 series card. I may need to upgrade if I experience problems. At the moment I am still downloading so hope for the best
I too run a 7 series card and have the same prob on vista 32bit, but I don't think it is worth upgrading over. It is likely a driver issue and will be fixed before too long as is often the case with new released games these days.

yup, same problem here too, it is frustrating but definitely not a show-stopper (yet) Specs: AMD X2 4200+, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7800gtx (latest whql drivers) and Vista 32bit. The only frame rate issue I get other than this is the first time a texture/object appears as it is loaded in. Once I've seen it once I no longer get a stutter.
I just got my serial but am unfortunately at work so no download for me at the moment, but I just wanted to say that even though I was slightly peeved at the wait for the code I had I don't think it is enough to simply label SD as having terrible customer service. Over the years I have been in contact with SD support for various reasons and never found them anything but helpful. For instance, I recently closed down an email account forgetting that GalCiv was still tied to it, a simple
Hang in there guys. I've been waiting like you and mine has literally just arrived in my inbox this minute. It won't be long...
In in New Zealand..So technically, its monday here before anywhere else.... except like the kiribati islands.
Heck, it's Tuesday here in NZ now and I'm still waiting ;)
Mine's at 0KB/s mainly as I am still waiting for my serial.... aaargh I want to download before I go to work
I remember that my Acorn Electron used to cause radio interference on the radio station my mum to at the time. She was never happy when she heard the sound of neeeyown-pew pew beeeep over the top of her programmes :D I often miss them simpler days. The computer magazines I used to get never used to have the 'free game' on the cover but rather had the code printed inside for you to program into your comp. Happy days. That said, I'm glad they still don't do that these days!!!
As far as I know, and this includes prior experience of SD software, you'll be paying the US$ price. edit: It sucks that games cost as much as they do in this part of the world (have just moved from the UK - NZ and am experiencing the sizable price jump first hand). :( /moan
For those of us who fancy a gaming/nostalgia kick from time to time I have found this site invaluable... [link="http://www.abandonia.com/index.php"]WWW Link[/link]
Oh yeah, I remember pong. I'm hoping for something a little more in depth with Sins though! I miss Manic Miner, Arcadians and something that was on the Amiga called Wreckers. I do agree though that nostalgia is best left in the past. Firing up Elite II for the first time in years really bummed me out as it wasn't all that I remembered it to be :SNIFF!:
Am guessing an hour or so before us in NZ (GMT+13), so prob midnight monday as a guess?
I'm in New Zealand, it sucks to be so far ahead - it is pretty much tuesday for us when it comes out. Yes, I know it is still the same amount of time to wait, but it's a psychological thing...
I'm wondering if it is something to do with the install. I am using the large one-off download from the website rather than from SDC, although I have got the updates from SDC itself. How about you guys?
Wish mine did. May have to do another install and see if that makes any difference. I am away from a net connection for a few days now...damn job... but will try when I get back. Will keep you guys posted (unless someone has already tried this).
Sorry, the last sentence was supposed to read: For info; I know this as after taking over their planet through both conquering and defections the build queue shows what the AI had been building. My excuse: Am at work and trying to get this written between phone calls. Speed = screw ups!
I have the same problems. Excalibur does this 100% of the time and Frigate does this once in a while too. Do you get the picture of the ship when you queue it? I am not sure what is going on. I posted about this at the start of last week and it was suggested that this had been fixed, but I am currently running 1.02 and have had no joy with this. The worst part (or best depending on your point of view) is that late game the AI tries building these and grinds to a halt due to them stickin
Freddie - Yep, super fun happy terror star time. It was late game, had most of the tech researched and thought... what the hell. I saved up 30+ constructors (had several planets churning one out a turn so didn't take too long), used the Overlords to clear a path to their heartland and then sailed in and built 2 terror stars in one happy go. Their systems only took 2-3 turns to crumble, they were even causing defections in the adjoining sectors. It's a really good way of putting the smack down on
2 late game Terror stars loaded to the max with cultural and defensive enhancements. Escort into the centre of the enemy's area and watch masses of systems defect to your cause... much fun!
Now that I know I am not the only person having this problem I am willing to go for a shameless BUMP BUMPITTY BUMP BUMP ;)
Hi guys and gals. Am having problems with the excalibor (spelling?) ship, i.e. I cannot build it. It always gets to the 'Next Month' status and sticks there. Another related problem is that on the build queue it doesn't display an image for it. Someone please help as this is holding back my 'I want to whoop the galaxy's ass' ambitions! For info, I am running the latest version 1.01a, and have used the entire download option from the website. Cheers
