1) I was just playing a game where the Korath Clan declared war on me. Several turns later, the Altarians contacted me, and said something like "Your war against the Korath Clan has no merit. We declare war." Wtf, they attacked me first! Similarly, I've seen cases where the AI would say that "X is the victim of a war of aggression by Y, so we're helping X", but I suspect that actually it was the other way around because X had a much larger military compared
Yes, I play pretty rare inhabitable planets. But......what about all the uninhabitable ones? They are just there to be pretty? Surely if we are space travelers, we can plonk down pre-fab structures (ie class 1 planet) that can have a military installation (listening outpost, anti pirate base etc.) allowing for ships in orbit to defend/ refuel/ resupply. Or Terraform an uninhabitable one into a Class 4, say,
I guess I misunderstood your post. I do find that sending out too many packed ships early on can really slow down your economy, so it is something to keep an eye on. It can be a problem if you like to colonize quickly. Technologies aren't usually a very good indication of overall strength, especially early in the game, as others have pointed out, but it still sounds to me like your overall economy is lagging behind a bit. Their starting technologies might be different as well, which could
I have to disagree with your questioning of having planets of different usability. I think your example was Mars, as in, why can't all tiles on mars be used for factories even though they aren't suitable for life. Part of the fun of GC is discovering different planets, most not great, but occasionally an awesome one. Your idea would remove that whole aspect of the game, and make most planets the same. I thin
New players don't quite understand the importance of population. I'm going to take a few shots in the dark here. The transport that you start out with is loaded with 100 million colonists to start your next colony (I believe?), but you can fill a transport with as many as 1 billion(?). You will find yourself seriously lacking in power if you max out transports and send them to other worlds in the very beginning. Your home world will end up with too small of a population to produce lar
I'm sorry but adjacency bonuses add a great deal to colony management, and are one of those 'why didn't I think of this before' game improvements. The game doesn't force you to lay out your planets a certain way, you still have full control. But if you are smart about the layout, you reap a benefit. Big colony management improvement IMO. All I wanted out of GC3 was more GC2 with better graph
Pretend the names are a result of cheap translator technology. And the weird number ones were discovered by the Yor....
Colony management, while I like the bonus tile/adjacency system in theory it doesn't really work well in practice. I tend to build the same things on every planet and most of the specialty buildings fall by the wayside with few exceptions that I build on large worlds. Why even bother with colony management beyond using the production wheel for optimization. The placement of tiles on most worlds aren't very good for optimization anyway so i
Now that Diplomacy has been released, I feel it's an appropriate time to voice what has been a very prominent concern for me. I realize that game balancing is an ongoing project, and that there will most likely be a lot of feedback along the way, but I would like to bring this out into the open if possible. I always felt that diplomacy was greatly overpowered in Galactic Civilizations 2. I never played through the campaign, and I didn't start playing until TOA, so please take this rev
I also do not want an option to just 'turn them off' as the majority in the list. are great. Some simply just need capitalization, a space to separate two words or removal of superfluous numbers after them. Also the ability to manually name black holes would be quite awesome. I like that they are not named by default but it would be fun to name them as you encounter them.
When star naming went live you were NOT allowed
I don't mind the names. You probably won't even notice while playing. I wanted to submit "AWESOM-O" but it doesn't meet the guidelines. [e digicons]:P[/e]

Any DLC that you were expecting will still be available upon launch, but will be deactivated 12hrs later. You can however re-purchase the DLC at a later time if you de
I see a lot of confusion in this thread. You guys seem to miss the underlying reason Vanadrom wanted a dedicated page file, so I'm going to try and answer his questions without being too redundant. Worthless dribble : Please excuse me for bringing this up again, but it helps to answer your original question. The reason everyone is talking about GC3 being 64bit only now, and how windows page files work, is because the game itself was limited in galactic civilization
Didn't the GC2 Dominion of Korx AI tend to build multiple economy starbases around their home planet? I never tried myself, but I assumed that starbase bonuses must stack, unless the Korx were creating redundant backups... haha. [e digicons][/e]

I would like to say that I am very impressed with the alpha build, and that I am very happy with my investment. I'm really looking forward to watching this game take form. The graphics are excellent, and the game is very polished and stable considering how early everything is. With that said, here are few things I have noticed so far... Glitch 1: The info panel on the far right is very slow to update population. This can cause a lot of confusion if you aren't re
