What will you do if there's voice involved? (btw, voice is already confirmed). It's going to sound clunky, and immersion is broken if you have only some quests having voiced lines.
The problem with "wonder" is that we live in time of internet. Any mystery would be solved on day one. That is why I'm more for mysteries that are randomized for each playthrough, similar to how 4X games are always different each time, due to random map and opponent setup. So something wondrous could happen in early game, or maybe in late game or not happen at all. And mystery is preserved.<
I would really like a basis for the design intent of each ship. It will be a big help for us providing feedback on their function. Hyperspace needs to stay the same. Red hue and all. Make it a little prettier sure but the overall idea needs to be the same. It's a huge part of the star control feel. I'm giving Starbases a chance but feel that having safe ports all over will subtract from the "

Things I'd like to see in the next update: 1. An explanation of why certain ships were given certain abilities. I guess this falls into the category of "explain the design philosophy behind each ship", but I'm more interested in the weapons specifically. 2. Maybe some input from the composers in regards to the process of writing the music. Are there specific pieces that are their favorites so far? What were they using for inspiration? Things like that. 3. I&#39
Something that would interest me... Conditional quests. For example: Be in Solar System X, between Date 1 & Date 2, with a certain ship in your compliment and you'll see the captain pop up with a quest stating there are slavers in this solar system which happen to be the ones to have abducted their siblings/parents/spouse/kids/etc. Or Be in Solar
Just a thought. Is there a way to incorporate user made content into the current universe your playing? I don't want to be playing a universe then leave to play another by using a menu on a UI.It breaks the immersion.I like the idea/option of the game being one continual game that never finishes slipping through universes full of unknowns. Wouldn't it be cool while your in your game universe
I'm still puzzled how last year revival came with estimate of game being done in 2nd half of 2017. I just can't see it finished before second half of 2018.
I think it could realistically release in the 2nd quarter of 2018 or maybe even the 1st quarter. I just hope that there's a public demo available in November to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

What if we surround the ship in your meters, but only when relevant or when a specific key is pressed? I know this is totally unnecessary and silly, but have a Quip Key that causes your captain's portrait to pop up and make a quip on the current status of the battle, and then the AI (or other player) can quip in response? Serves absolutely no mechanical purpose, but would give us an option to have the portraits still.

I'm willing to try any form of camera that is given to me. I could tell something was off in the screenshot, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I knew it wasn't quite top-down, but it wasn't isometric either. One of the things that I love about modern OSes is the ability to move your taskbar anywhere you want on the screen. I don't know how hopeful we should be for a fully configurable UI, but if it has to be on screen, I feel like having one player on the u
You're right, of course. Something as simple as making it be "stargates" (especially if I have to actually fly into them, and then see myself flying out of the corresponding one at the other starbase) would totally fix my issues with it. My only concern is that it be like waypoints in an RPG where I'm at one horse post and suddenly I'm at another one. That kind of works in an RPG because I can imagine I rode betwe
I think that the crew experience should be taken into account. The more battles a crew member survives, the better the chances the ship's weapons will hit their target and if the ship has shields, there will be a greater chance of them coming on to stop a hit even if the Captain is unable to time it right. On the flip side, the opponent's experience would be randomly generated. If you have a ship full of
Brad mentioned on Skype that he wasn't happy with the ships right now. This was too long to put there so I thought I'd mention this here. This is probably because of the speed/maneuver and relative motion of the ships. People who fly RC planes sometimes tie streamers to the tails and "dogfight" by trying to cut each other's streamers. Imitate this. The weapons and devices are distracting and confusing from what is by f

I mean, it's not a sequel, and since Stardock does not have access to the original aliens, this is a good compromise so that we have a solid base for future expansions and sequels that still feels similar in scope and tone. At least that's my opinion.

You use an awful lot of superlatives and absolutes in a world that is neither.

Except that they won't lose players over this. Maybe some whiny garbage-tier players, but noone worth anything. Like, have you been living under a rock or something? Blizzard is too big to fail. They've LITERALLY released awful games and still make stupid amounts of profit. I'm sorry, but no amount of running low-budget tourneys will ever give you the insight they have on running billion dollar businesses.
I wonder how much all that is going to cost them? Haha!
It's Blizzard, it costs them nothing to disqualify someone. And they've done multi-million dollar tournaments before.

It's not that noone can afford to, it's that the console crowd is made up predominantly of players who refuse to put forth more resources and effort than the bare minimum in order to get an enjoyable experience. Blizzard bothered because it was the first game they have made that was console ready out of the box.
