|Snipped| TBH I think the video is too short to give a deep opinion... but one problem I can see that might occur is 'blinding' by the star (or planets) if it's too big and the ships are battling on the far side of it, possibly obscuring the camera. Or if the enemy is on the far side of the star, in the distance. Maybe there should be other HUD displays (like a simple radar) to give the player a ge
I'll be honest: the combat video gave me immediate traumatic flashbacks to SC3's failed 3D melee camera mode. |Snipped|
I dislike it as much as (if not more) than some of you, but to its credit, there WAS a feature in SCNot 3 to add a grid to Isometric view so you had a sense of space and distance. I forget which key it was, and there was even an option to change to top-down view. (F9 I think.
Oh man, where to start. (I'm currently directing VO for a personal project right now, so this felt so familiar XD) If I had to vote, my first vote would be Laura P.'s 2nd reading. So dark, feels suspicious, cautious. There's almost a Vulcan quality to it. I really appreciate Karen S.'s 1st reading, feels a bit more fresh, as if humanity has very little experience in galactic affairs. However, Lauren L. is tied for 2nd in my opinion.
I really enjoy what I've seen so far, though there seems to be a consensus about scale being slightly off, one way or another. I understand that this is an early iteration, so I won't harp on that. CRITTERS Good god, I love those critters. I just hope that there are MORE critters (I figure you'll have more, just wanted to have my thoughts recorded). My only real feedback would be that there be less...gooey, slimey...gross critt

Though I always preferred to use the female Khor-Ah voice pack for
Now now boys.... (right? boys? right? May I should just use the girls as a general word instead???). Let's stop the bickering and getting sidetracked and focus on the OPs request.
Well clearly I'm a Kohr-Ah.
I think the point being made is that a villain is only believable when they're complex. One of my professors for interactive writing for games always brought up what he called the "Human" rule. "If a character can't be written as a human, they have no point of reference in a human mind." I don't think that COMPLETELY writes off weird and bizarre villains (ie machines, demons, etc etc) where the point is that they don't understand us because they're not human, but it's
It's always a shame when a company has to lay people off in this industry. Especially when that's almost a "black spot". Not that that would impede Paul & Fred, but still.
It's not sci-fi, but Windward was a fun few hours with buddies. Broadside action, ships, 'splosions.

On a related note, if there's multiple options for female Captain voices, I'd like a Katee Sackhoff option :D
I'd rather not see him, but hear Mark Meer's voice (or Tricia Helfer if it's a she).
You raise an incredibly important point that I didn't know I wanted more details on! Will the Captain be voiced? Can we customize our Captain? CAN WE GIVE OUR CAPTAIN A RIDICULOUS MOUSTACHE AND A TOP HAT? Inquiring minds want to know!
You can totally still free target with many guns (not all, but many). *snarky comment removed. Seriously, that was rude, even for you, self.* Also remember that there's still a budget of content for all games, even AAA titles. If you add something to any game, SOMETHING must be removed. Nothing good EVER comes free.
They optimized the first one with Enemy Within, and the DLC packs. Honestly, I never really felt like the first game was all that unoptimized anyways. Granted, my rig's fairly beefy, so it could just be relative :P. And...no. The second one is PC exclusive, and there's a lot of things they've taken away (while adding visceral content). This probably falls under "Space Anomalies" but obviously things like IDF holes (possibly using these as shortcuts into Quasi-space).
When I visit a system in SC2 I explore every single planet. Why? 'Cause you never know what secrets any planet can hold. Color coding or not makes zero difference in fun levels to me. It's fun to explore new places, period. It's fun to meet unexpected. Even if I knew that some planet is too hot to land on, I'd still go there even just to scan it. Is navigation tedious? Sure, but sometimes you meet ali
Well, I agree that moral ambiguity or even outright malice should be completely viable. But I feel like there should definitely be SOME negative consequences, even if they're indirect.

Well, considering it's an ALTERNATE universe, and not necessarily the same timeline, it wouldn't be completely unfeasible that ships would have similar designs. Something something monkeys and typewriters.
