yrag: spit the dummy means basically to throw a childish tantrum. Like a baby spitting their dummy (pacifier to the yanks) out in a fit of rage. Similar saying to 'throwing your teddy out of the pram'.

Kona: Following your logic your bicycle is not better than the original bicycle? I think you will have to agree your statement was not thought through sufficiently. Not a rant either. Just an observation.
I doubt very much it's a DX error message. Probably the plugin. Programmers do have senses of humour you know. I often have problems thinking of good error messages. A common one is 'Uh oh! This isn't supposed to happen.' when an error I never that is never supposed to be hit does get hit. And I WILL take that theme apart and find out which part of it is screwing things up. I have written themes that did a million popups myself before when I put msgbox in the wrong timer by mistake. (ie
I can understand the anger though not the way of expressing it. If it's what I think it is a dodgy plugin fails and pops up repeated Doh! messages until DesktopX crashes. It is an old theme and is quite likely to be using older plugins. Really the whole DesktopX section needs checking by someone to identify any themes that can cause these sort of problems and the authors being notified of it. One of these days I might start the task. [Message Edited]
tracy engel: First, glad you like the theme. Second, I am planning on updating the skin in the very near future. The most recent version is part of The Recruit Winstyle https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=recruit&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=0. If you want to contact me privately ([email protected]) I can talk you through adding other stuff to the other windows in the meantime. Or I can add the stuff you want/need and send it you. Been busy makin
I am working on converting/upgrading it to DX 2. But I do have a few other projects underway as well so not sure how long it will take.
neophil: Sorry. I'll try to explain in easier language. Something which is running when you start your computer may be losing resources when WindowBlinds skins it or interacts with it. To make sure disable every application from starting except windows explorer (for the taskbar and system tray) and Windowblinds. Then check your resources to see if the problem is still there.
neophil: It's not like the faults you complained about for Skinstudio or IconDeveloper (can't remember which) were easy things to fix. The fact is that Windows 98 doesn't have the capacity for the resources it was using. The eventual 'fix' as I understand it was to rewrite and optimise it so it didn't use as many resources on 9x (this was unnecessary on any other OS). The things you complain about in WindowBlinds are not things that can be fixed as easily or possibly even at all. Other peopl
I had a look at adding MSN in DX. I scoured the web and discovered many other people who tried and failed to do this without creating some form of plugin. When you try to create the MSN object via vbscript it fails. Here's hoping someone makes a plugin for DX as it would be very useful.
You need to set it via the script. Sub Object_OnScriptEnter Control.Multiline = True End Sub
I will be only too happy if someone wants to help by uploading my more recent skins. I'm constantly tweaking and playing with my latest ones so don't have many of them in their original form. Don't want to upload a semi-stable skin if I can help it.
For me the thredz suite has always had a special place in my heart for obvious reasons.
as far as I know there is no onclick event yet. You need to use : Sub Object_OnStateChange(state) if state = "Mouse up" then gmenu.visible=True end if end sub
I presume events == states. I think there's a limit in how many states you can have. You could get round it by using a hidden secondary object and flip to that when you would normally flip to state 30 for instance.
As a programmer you will of course know that everything that is coded works first time every time and you never experience bugs which were not picked up in testing. You will probably also know what the term beta implies. The problems experienced were fixed as soon as Stardock became aware of them. It's not like they released it onto an unsuspecting public knowing it would have the problem and would mess things up.
It's not a feature of DesktopX but can be done using DXScript. You would need to have something like: Sub Object_OnStateChange(state) If State = "Mouse down" then if system.cursorx > FirstHotSpotLeft and _ system.cursorx < FirstHotSpotRight and _ system.cursory > FirstHotSpotTop and _ system.cursory < FirstHotSpotBottom then ' It's in the 1st hot spot so do something end if end if End Sub

As to the topic of 'regurgitating the bible when questioned', isn't that what Jesus did when questioned by the devil in the wilderness? Jesus quoted parts of the Bible as answers to his questions. The Bible (a humorous but quite accurate description I once heard is B.I.B.L.E Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) is there to teach us what we need to know about the God who loves us and wants to save us from being eternally separated from him. It is there to provide answers to the m

System.internetconnected is being looked at by the developer at the moment. I caught a snippet of the conversation about it in chat earlier and it sounded very hopeful that the next registered build will have it corrected. Not sure how long it will take to feed through to the unregistered version.
Legolas probably has a legal copy of XP which does require activation but just activated itself over the internet like mine did a long time ago. It's never required me to phone Microsoft. I believe it does that if you move it to another PC or make some very significant changes to the hardware in the box.
Could probably do it through DesktopX using WMI. Think I saw mention of it somewhere in the long lists of what you can query. Take a look at http://pjpowell.dyndns.org/DX-WMI/WMI_and_how_it_impacts_on_DesktopX.htm for some info on getting started. I will be taking a look at this myself also as it seems a good idea for an object.
It's beige. And that's the end of it.
In some ways I prefer it. More space for what I actually come to the messageboard to see (messages). But as the messageboard is my default homepage it means extra clicks to see the skins. So nay.
Oil2003: Style XP is not free. The hack for unsigned styles which you appear to have is free and is not what people are referring to as Style XP. The nag screen is there for exactly the purpose you state. It's there to remind you that you've been using the software for long enough to know whether you like it and want to purchase it or don't like it an want to take it off the PC. Unfortunately people are not honest enough to just give them an app and trust that if they like
