@haomaicl: I like the old dreadnought influence there and the earth fighter looks like it might come from a more advanced era.

@haomaicl: Wow, those are really good. @Ashog: Strogg stronk.
Happy to see we are already getting some nice submissions. @Kavik: There is nothing to lose in giving it a go! @Ghap: I have it a spin, nice take on repurposing the Scryve laser. @Emperor: Faster than she looks. @Nahtegood11: Reminded me a bit of the Syreen penetrator. @Blasphememetic: Nice work, although remember that although you can submit multiple ships we will only select one for each entrant.

We will be hosting a series of community events for Star Control Origins Fleet Battles. These will be an opportunity for players to queue up in either ranked or unranked an
I enjoy seeing more people converted to The Orville. And yes this last episode was peak comedy so far but still with character building.
We are taking some questions from founders about lore and story in Origins. These all come under NDA but all founders are welcome to add their own question to this Google document. I would also like to take a moment to invite anyone who is not yet on the Discord server to come join us . Lore specific information is often shared there.</
I just bought the founder's pack on the stardock site, but I can't find a link to the download. I see most people are using steam to download the beta. The link to the starcontrol download on my stardock games doesn't exist yet. Anyone have any advice? I'm hoping I'm missing something simple... Emails have been sent out to all founders with instructions on how to get the new Super Melee Beta for Origins. However, if you are unable to find your email we have provided a way to retrieve and activate your Founders copy of Star Control Origins:
Everyone who joined the Founder's program should start getting Steam keys around the 16th. But you didn't hear that from me. [e digicons];)[/e]
Glad I went back to read this. So soon now for everyone :)
Founders are going to be key in helping to inform other gamers what the new Star Control really is. Especially when it comes to those older gamers who are familiar with UQM. On the other hand having a brand new universe to explore should make it easier to introduce Star Control to a new generation. I just hope we can avoid any overreactions.
DMF: ST:D is set ten years before TOS . It has Pike, Kirk, Spock etc. around the same period. It even has Sarek in the pilot and has retconned Michael as Spock's adoptive sister that Sarek feels emotional over. It is a total retconning for those of us who grew up on TOS.
I agree with a lot of what Midnight and RLM have had to say about ST:D . Honestly, ST:D could be a decent "gritty" sci-fi show. In fact I am one of the trekkies who loved DS9 and have always had a place in my heart for shows like Battlestar Galactica or Black Mirror. Star Trek, however, should be a show that is optimistic or at least has a fun spirit to
Last episode was pretty damn stellar. It shows that it was a veteran Star Trek director handling it, but the writing (even the jokes) were on point too. Apparently, the next episode is going to be directed by Jonathan Frakes!
The Orville is basically a passion project for Seth. He was tired that the Trek he knew was dead and there is no sign of it coming back. So he basically made a TNG/Voyager like show of his own. The name changes and forced attempts at humour make it different enough not to get sued. Honestly going by the first two episodes it has some real potential for being a spiritual successor to Star Trek, but they might want to dial back the Seth jokes. Otherwise, it really is just TNG in all but name an

I don't really agree with the use of the word humanoid here. I think when you say humanoid what you really mean is anthropomorphic. But, I do see what you are getting at about exotic aliens. The Pixar-like art style probably has a lot to do with this. For myself, it is far more about the writing. We also have not properly seen all of the aliens, let alone animation or voices for them. So there is still a lot to flesh out. An example of how "humanoid" aliens can still be cool are the B
That event already passed.
We have an official server for Star Control Origins and the franchise as a whole. This server was originally linked in the Founders' Vault but as time has passed many are still unaware of its existence. Joining the server is not mandatory, but it is a good idea since it is where a lot of the community activity and developer discussions now exists. Discord is a text and voice chat service that allows for multiple channels and features. It is free to sign up and you can use it on y

I'm kind of surprised this has created such a heated response. Eternal & Infinite was highlighted earlier on, though maybe not so explicitly. Brad has also talked about strategic and simulation elements being a long term goal in the two voice chat Q&A sessions we have had on Discord. Whether you are optimistic, pessimistic or neutral about the idea it is not something we are going to see for something like two years or more. Brad has made it quite clear that the focus is
