Here's a compromise for planet scanning, when you orbit a planet it gives you an indication of minerals, levels of life, energy presence, weather hazard etc., all without scanning, that way you can tell if it is worth it to visit the planet even before scanning. To get the dots on the planet and get an idea of where you should land you have to scan, but instead of three scans there is only one. I've been thinking on my suggestion for the old Trandals' model an
Also forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, but is it still possible to access a beta of the actual star control game and not just the fleet battles? I remember mention of a discord channel and instructions being given on there but can't remember the specifics..
Adventure mode is not part of the beta, yet. I don't know when it will be.
There are several reasons why Stardock would not focus on classic ships for release. Development cost. Origins will have its own aliens with their own ships, Frogboy mentioned about 28 at release. Ur-Quan Masters had 25, Kessari Quadrant introduced 12. That's 37 ships for which they would have to create models, weapon effects, sounds, artwork, etc. That would increase both development costs and push back the release of the game. Two things I want to get off my chest. Firstly, the word "race" is an informal rank in the taxonomic hierarchy, below the level of subspecies. In the context it is used in in-game dialog and documents it should be species. Secondly, you guys keep using the word sentient to mean sapient. The two words have different meanings. "Sentience and sapience are two term that are

Kind of running out of ideas. I have a weaker system than yours and mine never restarted. Might be best to wait for a dev to chime in. Also you should consider joining the Origins' Discord server .
New accounts have a limit on the number of replies they can post, this is to reduce damage done by spambots. The limit goes away after a few days. In the mean time you could edit your previous posts.
How many cores does your processor have? Also what is the model of your graphics card?
Could you please post your system's specs?

In the latest Vault update they asked for quest ideas, so I will use this thread to store my ideas as to not forget them. Also to refine them over time. Did you select the Beta branch in the Betas tab? If that didn't work try restarting Steam.
The one from August does, July has a timeline. I also recommend September because it contains concept art of all of them. Also check out the wiki , it has a timeline and some info on the species.
Posted by Frogboy on Steam: #3 You will eventually be able to set up sound effects for your primary and secondary abilities as well as set the Stinger music for your victory. #4 You will eventually be able to pick your own set of animations for the portraits. These will be PNG bitstrips to support normal, severely damaged, victory, death, and hit. The Steam workshop will support players uploading their own bit strips, sound effects, etc. to share. </block
Speaking of art, will you be releasing more of the aliens from the Ur-Quan universe? Or how about some for the aliens from Kessari?
