I believe that Krynus is correct. In my original post I was comparing EWOM Beta 4 to AOW SM rulers in the area of leader equipment. In MOM the "magician" who lead the faction could not equip items. Scooter's comments on changes needed from EWOM Beta 4 are very good. I am making the assumption that these kind of changes are in the works - we'll see. I still enjoyed the flow of the tactical battles but these changes would fix some significant gaps.

That's what is nice about games like this - everyone will have something they like that others don't. What do you like about EWOM Beta 4 that I didn't mention?

I have enjoyed playing Master of Magic for many years. When I first heard about EWOM I was excited about the prospect of a MOM type game made for today's computers. Of course I had no idea of how well EWOM would turn out - other games before (AOW SM, etc) have tried but have not quite made it to the same level of fun. So here is my opinion on how EWOM Beta 4 compares to MOM on some points of interest to me. 1. Video - (no surprise here considering impro

The potential is here for a great game. 3C is interesting and shows some of the necessary diversity. But it could be a lot more. I too look forward to Beta 4 and the commercial release. Great work - Frogboy and company!

The beta has been interesting from my point of view as well. The game has changed significantly so many times that it is like having tried several games. Over that time EWOM has certainly become better. Less bugs. More featrues. Better balance. But the real question is "what will it play like at release"

Frogboy, the game looks great and most elements play very well already. It looks like it has the makings of a classic when its released. Then just think about what will happen over time............. A lot of people will follow this game for a long time. You and your team are doing a great job - very creative and responsive.

What is the city spacing limit? I will look and see if they are too close. I think the real solution to this issue is to have both human and AI players starting points be as far apart as possible within the limits of the number of players and the space available. I'll look and see if I still have a savegame. Thanks for the help.

The AI still has a great has a great tendancy to create multiple cities near my starting locations. It creates 3 or more cities very quickly - I have no idea how it can do that given the current limitations on city building but it does. This means that if I don't spend all of my efforts on getting an early city building unit out in the world that I am cut off. I like city building but not as the entire game focus. I am us

I have the same problem with being unable to build after saving the game. In addition even if I don't save you eventually become unable to build - even after you are well into the technology tree. I still have unused resources but the improvements don't show up in the options - not even as greyed out ones for which you lack some requirement. Has anyone else seen this problem?

I was out of town when 3A was updated to 3B and just returned in time for 3C today. So far so good. However, when I click on a character's portrait there use to be inventory screens that let you look at armor, clothing, items etc. It also let you equip or unequip them. Now when I clik on a portrait I get a book page. Would someone please help me understand what the change was and what action I now need to take to change the ar

I agree that this needs attention. Unless a military unit is destroyed it can, back where it was first raised, bring in and train replacements. There should be cost for this. I also think you should be able to join units that are of the same type (same nation and equiped alike) to form larger units. I don't see why this should not work - three batalions join to become a regiment for example. If there needs to be a cost then so be it.

Progress as described in your "Sneak Peeks" post sounds good. Your comments: " As some of you know, Elemental BETA 3-B is the last public beta prior to the Modding beta (Beta 4). The modding beta will take things into a different direction while the team focuses on polishing, fixing bugs, and adding your requests into the main game in time for both the DVD release version (August 6) and the Day 0 release version (

I used the teleport spell quite frequently during Beta 3. No problem. The overall system was a bit cumbersome but the spell worked. In 3A, however, I have researched and learned teleport but it won't owrk. It does not give the green cursor when you hold it over one of your cities territory - it stays red just as if I was trying to to teleport to unowned space. Can anyone tell me what has changed or what I might be doing wrong? Or is th

"I don't think anyone considers AI to be an important factor. The beta community has has been pretty clear that they don't think the AI needs to be even in the game..." Frogboy, I assume the above quote is humor since for this game a good AI is critical. The six areas for change that you describe in your origianl e-mail all sound very good. The game is on the edge of being great - its just a question of these type of improvements that will ma

Frogboy, I suggest a simple mana system. Mana is generated by certain buildings and shards. The player has three uses for mana. 1. Use it to cast spells: both instantly and over time 2. Use it to improve the amount of magic that can be used in a single fight. 3. Use it to build up a mana supply to use later. Researching spells has nothing to do with mana - except you can't cast them if you don't have enough mana and see the next
