Many funny, and interesting comments. LOL. Tahnk you all for some fun entertainment. Now, lets get serious: Regarding humans meeting 'exotic aliens' no one ever mentions the other side. Do you really think "they" would want to go slumming with "Homo homo Sapiens," -ie humans? And what kind of "drink" would you offer one? And, are you really, really, reeee aaa ly, ready to deal with whatever "attachments" they might have? <p

Oakenspirit, take heart. Think of your experience as a baptism of fire. You are now seasoned, and ready to apply what you have learned to your next experience in EWoM. The learning curve is steep - and many style work, or don't work, depending on a variety of circumstances. HAVE FUN with it. Go in, try things. if they work, use them again. If they don't , well, don't use them again. IS very important to have a strong, effective military.

I sense one of the underlying concerns for some players is the game's respect (or lack thereof) of our modern taboo regarding incest. This modern taboo is appropriate IMHO. But deciding which 'evil' or 'good,' as modern western societies define them, the developer permits to exist in a fantasy game, is a fuzzy area. Some people role play evil SOV's who do human (sentient) sacrifices (in one mod). Should we remove evil from the game? Some players send thei

Both ideas have merit. A militia IS a civilian force that arms itself to repel attacks, and then goes back to civilian duty. I like the idea of troops in training being 'mustered' to defend. Another idea is a specific unit type (garrison, etc.) that has a high defense value, and is intended to be stationed in, and defend, settlements. Any other ideas?

Or a spell that creates a 'new' one tile flat land. And if a road is in an adjacent tile, makes a road that connects to that tile, in the 'new' flat tile?

Inbreeding amongst royalty has a very long tradition. Egyptian Pharaohs often married their sisters. In Europe, hemophilia was common among many royal families. The inbreeding cause the recessive gene for this to present as both parents had it. The child ended up being a 'bleeder.' (Wounds don't heal, or heal v e r y slowly.) I don't know it this is where the expression "blue bloods' comes from. But it does explain why so many royals were insane.

I'm new to all this. I will try team speak first, as that seems like the simplest to install. My PC becomes the server, and anyone trying to access it needs a password. So I feel it might be safer from 'PC infections. Thank you all for the suggestions, cautions, etc, Esp about MS messenger -

Joel. you have understood the dilemma we all face when it comes to understanding the tech tree, AND in finding out what you need - in game. I played for two weeks before I realized that quest and notable locations did not generate from the same techs... LOL. BTW, I like the way tech is implemented. Sometimes a tech becomes available to choose, sometimes not. One thing I would like: all tech trees to have is a variable time to 'completion' of th

daveRI, ..And the government assumed if they loaned the banks hundreds of billions of dollars to keep them afloat the banks would then make loans to the public to keep the economy spinning. Ooopsie [e digicons]:omg:[/e] . You are right. banks are not people. Banks are 'corporations.' Corporations are designed, primarily, to separate individual profit taking from individual responsibility. So, many corps devolve into this: So what i

Goldmos: I agree with you about the hopes for 1.1 I hate the city spam - have to focus on administrative details just to stay a contender in the game, because the AI really believes in "Spam-a-lot."

Many wonderful ideas here. Whatever is done with teleporting, make it optional, so players who want it can have it. Everyone can agree with that. Portals, good idea. Create a "take me home' Spell: It 'sets' a home tile, one tile that you and your 'friends' can teleport back to. Naval movement, transport, YES! What about forced marches, army moves faster but is "tired." William the Conquero

Hi Gizment, I will try to offer some 'general' advice. Specific advice is difficult because there are so many variables, amnd many styles. Here is mine: First, are you playing a kingdom, or an empire? I generally play a kingdom, so my advice will follow that tech tree. First, take sovereign with meditation, or whatever its called. The point is, you want a Sov that will immediately begin research on magic. This is essential. Then, b
