Thanks. I'm in the middle of my first Normal AI level game. When I finish it I will create a new character name and join!
Lord_Arkham
I would like to join the Olympians. I want to use the name Helios. Thanks!
I got an invite from the Kzinti Empire. They have the most characters by far.. but SilverBeacher and his cronies have been really nice and helpful to me.. :-)
I'm still new.. but I am investigating joining an empire..(if anyone will have me) Is this emp. still taking members?
Take a look at the various types of slots on your mainboard. Answers.com has a good pictorial. http://content.answers.com/main/content/img/CDE/PCXSLOTS.GIF I'm just going to assume that you have a PCI Express x16 slot for your video card. You must also be mindful of how much power your new card uses as well. Dell skimps on Power supplies. Also look for cards that use Stream Processors instead of PixelPipelines. I know... it's a pain. But check this c
That was very beneficial information! Thanks.
I saw a post where the person said they were upgrading their ships as economy permits? I can't seem to figure out how to upgrade existing ships already in service. Or did I read the post wrong? It would be very handy if I could upgrade 20 ships of the same design already in service. Thanks,
I'm new still and playing at beginner/normal level. What has been working for me is medium ships with equal amounts of offense and defense. Preferably an offense for a defense they don't have along with a defense for their offense. The medium/equal weapons and defense seems to be working so far.. but I am certainly going to try some new things that were mentioned above.
I'm pretty new and have just started on Normal level. The one thing I've noticed with Alliances is that I usually must send them a "donation" in addition to the Alliance request; somewhere along the lines of one to two thousand BC. Each time I have been in the top three or four with really good Diplomacy.
Beyond Mortality was tough for me.. my attack first strategy backfired.. had a tough time fighting those Torians until my ship and weapon tech came online... but it was definite fun! A different game. http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=18472 Character: Prefect Persius Race: Custom Years: 5 Difficulty: Beginner Victory: Beyond Mortality Alignment: Neutral Score: 2250 I guess it took too long and that's why my score was so l
Think I did good except I forgot it was a technology conquest... :-) I'll go for the tech conquest again just for the heck of it. Character: Prefect Persius Race: Custom Years: 3 Difficulty: Beginner Victory: Military Conquest Alignment: Neutral Score: 4000 Would someone please delete the previous two posts I made until I figure the html out here? Thanks
Err.. My html skills are poor on this forum.. I'll try to repost my results.. http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4783/persiusbonusroundtq9.jpg
Not much to brag about, but it was a fun game (thank goodness the terrans forgot to bring transports when they attacked...), and since the bonus round was partly my idea, I couldn't let it go without trying.

Arghh... I just realized after killing everyone that it was a technology victory!!
thats up to you; normally its at or above whatever MV Difficulty Medallion you have showing (so for example, I am required to play at Crippling or higher). You can choose a difficultly level that you are comfortable with. We have players that play on a number of various different levels, which makes the MVL much more egalitarian; its not just a Highest Difficulty Club.
Cakewalk here I come!!!
Reasonably good startup. Took 4 retries to finally end on 22 Dec 2227. I still have no idea how to go 10K+ with this.My submission for the round:This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 664x352.My fastest tech win yet.
Wow.. and I thought a score of 3000 was good! That was my first win when I started GCII.
I don't see anything about what difficulty level to set the AI to.
I might be blind.. but I didn't see anything about difficulty level needed. Can we set it to what we want as long as we report it? The reason I ask is because I'm pretty new to the game and am playing at beginner level. I'm doing well in my first gigantic galaxy but I don't think I could do near as well with AI 'average' intelligence (based on what I've read about the AI). Are there like bonus point multipliers for any wins with harder AI settings? Thanks,
Ok.. sign me up. Character is Prefect Persius
Wait till you start a gigantic, all-abundant, Painful (that is my highest setting). I was pulling my hair out by the handful. That game took me over 4 weeks of steady play to finish.
Hehe.. I'm doing gigantic at beginner level right now.. it's a fun way to learn the ropes and so far I'm kicking butt...except for the ships sneaking troop transports in on me from time to time.. Economy + Research is my main focus and it seems to be working well.
Glad you are enjoying the game. Welcome to the addition!
Hehe.. Uhh...was going to start another thread..but perhaps I can just ask here: I'm doing better and having a blast on the gigantic map...BUT... I'm having a hell of a time keeping track of enemy ships coming in my sectors.. I mean .. I'm all over the galaxy and sometimes they sneak in.. Is there something that can alert me when an enemy ship comes close to an area? I have great sensors and galactic eyes..but it takes forever to comb over everything .. Scrolling all the way
Nice advice everyone. I've just started playing and found myself doing my old strategy of expansion and concentrating on Economy/Technology/Production. I've realized that this strategy is very slow and potentially dangerous because my ship production is slow. When I finally get good ships all is well.. but I've also found it's very easy to get beat up by a technologically inferior enemy..but he has ships and I don't! I'm trying to find that sweet spot but I have also found
I figured how to do what I wanted in the game options. And double clicking on the PICTURE of the ship in the planet/ship options will take me directly to it. About the game options.. I just set the option to shuffle through all ships that are idle. It was really handy for a while. When I didn't need it anymore I just turned it back off. Once my tech got high enough and I could actually build a decent ship, I figured out fleet. It was very straightforward... Man.. logistics really
I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks for the advice and kindness!
