Just to jump on the kostura bandwagon... I was playing a game where I built 1 Kostura, and used it's ability to stun the defenses on the enemy HW and bypass 3 or 4 worlds of defenses. After building a starbase there, I bombed the world until it had one shot left. I fired the Kostura AGAIN, then blew up the whole HW, and jumped my entire fleet back to my side of the map before his fleet arrived. Darvin3 is right. That thing is a complete monster (not that I'm complaining) [e di

I left multiplayer a few months ago, and the 'lum spam was going strong. I come back to the forums, and the VASARI are now the dominant race? I did NOT see that coming (they were always viewed as weak). Seems like everything has degenerated into spam... So sad... And for scmorris: karma is just a silly little way of telling someone you appreciate what they do or say. Usually people with high amounts of karma are big contributors.

Yes, When I first started playing, I had the same desync problems as everyone else. I got frustrated, and left for a time. Some time ago, I returned, and it was if the whole place had changed. I'm a rather shy person online (bad experience several years ago, working on getting over it), and when I came back I was "greeted" by a slew of questions with people wondering if I was a smurf. When they weren't asking if I was a smurf they were just silent. There were ne

I have a bug. It dosen't occur nearly as often as it used to, but it still happens. I made a post on it, and it seemed to be fixed for a while. I just never bothered to revive the post because it's a much rarer occurence. Still... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/342879 If you don't want to go through my post, the bug in a nutshell is "weapon effects slowly dissappear over time, until none remain". Ps: I have entrenchment, not diplomacy.

I'd say it's probably in a state akin to fibrillation (chest paddles, anyone?) Joking aside, I must confess to not playing online nearly as much as I probably should. I got a little impatient with being creamed by illum spam (I like to play vasari, and could never really grasp using scouts as a counter)

I would like to add to the above (great) tips an idea: try flanking the Vasari fleet. If you attack from several directions at once, the Vasari is going to need to use more subverters to get the same effect. Also, with the TEC economy, having a secondary "backup" fleet may also help (your first fleet is used as bait to occupy as many subverters as possible, the second takes out the much weaker Vasari force). I hope that this helps. -CM

Personally, I like magnetic clouds. A "hole" in the map where nothing can be built adds a new layer of strategy for me. However, most people don't share my feelings on the matter, so I have a possible alternative: Instead of preventing use of abilities, perhaps a magnetic cloud could cause an antimatter drain over time? Something like 2AM/Sec? Or make it more costly to use AM abilities? These would make it much more difficult to field a starbase in the well, and hinder mine deployment

Scout nerfing: Nay Balancing scouts: *I will pass judgement on the seeker for now, as I haven't played Advent in a while* -Nay to decrease of navigator supply +Yay to increase of navigator dps (though not a large increase) +Yay to increase of navigator hp/shields (personally, I think that this may be the issue with the Vas scout, rather than the dps)

I like using a Kortul x Vulkoras. If the Kortul is at level 6, just use volatile nanites at a mob of frigates, move the Vulkoras in close and drop a Phase Missle Swarm. If timed right, you can clean out quite a bit (especially if the frigates are all bunched together).

Well, according to the minimum specifications for Entrenchment, you should be ale to run it, although it'll be rather close. Entrenchment dosen't appear to use much more CPU than the origional Sins; and if you can run an audiobook on the origional, I don't see why the programs should interfere (other than the limited resources). As Rocky_Tooth mentioned, if you run into any issues, just send up another post. Good luck!

A lot of questions here... I'll try my best to answer... 1: I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a "processing issue". Are you referring to CPU power, or the games interfering? 2: It pretty much did all the hard work itself for me. 3: You don't need to burn a separate disk. You can actually play it (and SOASE vanilla) straight from the hard drive (just navigate through the start menu to the games folder and click the game). I hope that this helps...

Update to the post (Yeah, I know, it's been over 4 months, but it still happens): -Explosions will not display when the weapons fire disappears. -Parts of the Vasari Starbase's Disintegrator rays will disappear, before being unable to show anything. -I have upgraded my video card to a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (512MB), but the issues persist. -Disabled the page file (the area of the hard drive that is used when you run out of memory, except my comp kept using it w

I love playing as the Vasari. I find it so fun to be able to manipulate entire enemy fleets in order to have my fleet come out on top. You get Subverters to freeze any non-cap ship in it's tracks; Overseers to prevent the enemy from reinforcing the fleet you're crushing; Assailants to snipe cap ships (or anything else, for that matter); Devastators and Desolators for a fun chain-reaction (Volatile nanites+Phase Missle Swarm = POPCORN FLEET!!)... And if things get too dicey, yo

Here's what I tend to do... 1. Skirmishers: I like to use them, but mostly as a support ship rather than a combat fighter (although their attack value does help). 2. Subverters: I'm not much of a micromanager, so I tend to leave the distortion field autocast on. However, I usually turn it off if there are a lot of civilian buildings (my subverters especially like to shut down labs for some strange reason), or if the enemy fleet is mostly capital ships (distortion field does no

Hello, I've recently come upon a glitch in Entrenchment and was wondering if anyone else had seen it, or knew a way to correct it. After playing the game for about two or three hours, I notice that the weapon displays (ie. laser beams/missles/flak/capship"spells"/etc.) suddenly disappear. The absence continues until I restart the game. It's slightly disorienting, since I can't tell if my units have completed an action or not. My specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (2
