how odd.. i used crae's suggestion on 2 icons on the desktop - net neighborhood and ie.. worked fine.. (must be some quirk of the 'special' ie icon..) of course you'd have to do it from within microangelo to do it to the recycle bin..

aha.. there you go.. of course it doesn't work for 'all' icons, since it doesn't actually get rid of the text.. still though, thanks crae, and i feel daft for not thinking of it myself

i'll check out crae's link in a second, but yeah, dx can do it quite easily. you just select properties on your icon (object) and in the window that comes up you del the text in the label field. and no, you're not alone. one of the most popular little mac gadgets is an extension called 'titlefree.' after all.. isn't that the -whole- point of icons? to have a little picture representing

yikes.. i use a mac at home, pc at work. when i go to some mac specific wallpaper sites, i see the same sort of thing. tons.. i mean -tons-.. of dtp's with apples in them.. g4s in them.. cubes, imacs, ad slogans, john lennon's beard.. sigh.. i never dl any of them. i already know what kind of machine i have, and which os.. i don't need to advert it to myself. personally, if i ever dl an os wp of any kind, sooner or later i fudge out the letters. it's too much like an '

from the wording i'm not quite sure if you -want- to freshly re-download all the components (like windowblinds) or not.. if you want fresh downloads of the components:: easy format away.. then just re-download the component manager first.. pretty small dl. have your reg info ready. if you want to retain all your current components (to save dl time, perhaps?):: use the 'backup' button

i'm sure he's quite busy creating cool interfaces for spies. in all the spy movies, their computers have extra-cool non-standard interfaces, that do way more than any 'normal' computer could. i only hope he's not being held captive in a sub-terranian volcano complex, being forced to create interfaces for a nefarious evil genius, bent on world domination, yet strangely unknown to the world at large. sorry for the run-on sentence..

moral relativism.. hehe i've always found it odd that, knowing what archaeology and history can tell us, people are aghast that hernan cortes let the 20,000 previously subjugated people who decided to follow him to tenochtitlan decimate the aztecs. how many 8 year old kids need to have their hearts cut out and eaten by priests before it isn't relative anymore? more than several hundred on a big holiday apparently.
