Gateway Map Newbie Question in Single Player Sins Forums

Ok I just started playing the game and frankly I think it is one of the BEST! Games I have played in the past year :) You guys at Stardock and Ironclad really put together a masterpiece but anyway to the point. I have been playing the Map called Gateway and in the description it said that XI was abundant in resources and what not so anyway I went and captured the Gateway system and then jumped to the nearby star.
