The point is that only the Hobbits seam to have the "inner" strength to resist the ring. But aside from that, I liked Shrek, however there is a big difference between a "Farie Tale" and a "Mythic Fantasy", so let us not compare them, it is like comparing Snow White and Star Wars.... By the way, It's OK if you did'nt like the movie.

Form viewing the movie I can see how there might have been alot cut. I hope they do put it on the DVD. but I think the finished cut is about as accesable to none tolkien fans as they could get. Saw it again last night and have to say still just as good. I plan on seeing agin when they add the trailer for the Two Towers to the end.

Hmmmmm........ Well if they had changes the story any further they really would have had a riot. But unfortunately the other hobbits become more important as the story goes on. I cant help your opinion but I hope you see the rest of the movies, you have to remember that this movies is only the first act in a classical Hero myth, and I think it is more important to keep to the structure of the books rather then try and make it more friendly to the masses, you can please most of the people some of

Alan Lee and John Howe did a GREAT job. And as a Tolkin Illiustrator myself I have to say I couldent ask for more. I don't know if Conceptual Artist is a Oscar catagory, but if so they should win Hands down.

Not Fingolfin, Glorfindil, witch is was the high elves of the house of Fingolfin. Not to let my nerd ness show but there are several elvish names reused in the lord of the rings, it happend but rarely. The Glorfindil in Sim, died fighting gothmog. Yes I am a geek.

The Love story was in the Books, just buried in the appendix, they just took some stuff from there and worked it in, and the rest of Arwens “augmentation” was done in such an way that it fit into the story and didn’t change the dynamic of the story, she is only in it for about a half houre, and most of that is she dose a lot of the stuff that Glorfindil dose in the books. They had to change things of corse, but somehow you never go, "why did they do that?" it seams somehow they managed to keep the spirt of the books, and make it work.

Just got back form the show and am planning to see it again ASAP. It ROCKED, I am a hard core Tolkien fan, and as a Tolkien Illustrator a bit of a purest, put I have to say they did a great job, and it was well worth the wait.
