I've been another guy calling for a scalable increase in population cap, but the more games I play the more I realize that may not be entirely necessary. I just played a game against 3 medium AIs on the Doppleganger map... Consolidated my forces around the system's star and built up enough planetary defense structures in the surrounding grav wells to delay any invading fleet long enough for my fleet to respond. I turtled up, built up my defense forces before commissioning a new offensive flee

I've been going with family members myself... Grandfathers, dad, and siblings as Kols, Grandmothers and mom as carriers, grandmothers'/mom's maiden names for Akkans and Dunovs. I use cities and streets I've lived in or on as wild cards. I also have gone other routes, but I find this gives me a more personal attachment to my fleet... don't ever want to see my ships destroyed as a result.

I'm finding similar problems with the AI... It just seems to stop researching once it gets to a certain number of techs. It also stops upgrading fleet logistics, so it's stuck with an outnumbered navy after a few hours of gameplay. I thought this would be limited to the easy AI, but I've observed it with medium AI as well. Combine that with the post above and you get an under performing AI all around, which is disappointing. That being said, the game is still insanely fun and I ofte

I haven't seen any frigates, cruisers, or cap ships flying through asteroids... But what I HAVE seen are fighters flying through planets and suns... like directly through them. That may not sound like a big deal, but when my fleet jumps into a system directly opposite the enemy's fleet, it feels a little unfair that my flights of bombers can fly straight through a planet instead of around it... that makes for a quicker attack, less reaction time, all of that. I don't have any screen

So I love the game... Completely addicted to it. It's pretty much everything I've hoped for since I started following development over a year ago. But I have a few questions that I haven't seen addressed in other threads. 1) Trade Ports... I know they increase credit income. I vaguely understand that it depends on the length of your longest trade route. But I'm also pretty sure there's more to it... Does placing a second Trade Port in a given grav well give you any substa

I love the fleet controls... It makes ship management much easier for me, at least in terms of navigation between planets and systems. If I ever decide I want to pull back a specific ship, I usually find it best just to tell that ship to "Leave Fleet". That way I can pull it back while leaving the rest of my fleet engaged.

I wasn't in the beta, but I can say I yearn for a different fleet cap/supply system. I love the game, but I'm afraid to go to anything larger than the biggest "1v1" maps because I just can't see how I'd have enough units to effectively defend my empire. For a game that scales up to such huge maps with so many stars, planets, and systems, I can't imagine how the game can be played with the current system... There really needs to be something like the system in an earlier beta build, wh

I wasn't in the Beta, but I've been following Sins closely since Beta 2... Needless to say, once I was able to get my hands on a retail copy Day 1 I was totally and completely blown away by the game... Like I said, I've been following Sins' development, but nothing can quite prepare you for how awesome this game is to play. That being said, it's amazingly cool to see this game climb all the buzz charts on the various websites. It may be the quintessential example of how a game should

I haven't played anything other than a few 1v1 games on smaller maps, but I can definitely see where this would be a problem and get out of hand. The last game I played was on a 4 system map (Derelect, I think it's called) and I already felt as if my defense was getting stretched thin a little... I had to cover the point of entry on my front line system, a wormhole, and two stars just to make sure I didn't find raiding parties jumping around my empire... I can imagine how it'd just get way ou

How exactly is your trade income calculated? The size of your trade network? Or by the length of your longest trading route? Both? Is it worth putting trade ports at every planet or are there cases where there isn't enough profit to justify the cost in resources and logistical slots?

Good points there from a realistic standpoint. I was going to bring up the asteroid point as well, since they essentially are moons in each planet's gravity well. That being said, I don't think it's necessary for the devs to stay too realistic... I mean, if it happened once with Earth's moon, it could happen again, right? If not, then what about the idea of putting a colonizable moon around the Gas Giant planets that are currently not colonizable? Maybe not even colon
Best bet is to check back Monday when you can order then to see if it's still open (Yarlen or sales will be around then to say for certain). I'd imagine EB/GS will probably let you preorder (they're usally more than happy to do that), but there isn't any retail preorder bonus box, and you won't get beta access if you go that route (beta is only for direct preorders).
I appreciate that advice. I have football to tide me ov
Or would I have to wait for phase 5? there is no such thing as beta 5
I thought I already corrected myself, but I guess that wasn't enough lol... It seems logical that the Beta is still open for new preorders, but I'd like to hear it from somewhere official first, I guess... Don't want to be spending $55 for a game I won't even see until February.

But if I were to pay with Totalgaming tokens I'd only get a digital download, right? I'd really prefer to have a physical copy, as well.

So Beta 4 just was released... If I pre-ordered today would I be able to access phase 4? Or would I have to wait for phase 5? Scratch that... I just read that Phase 4 might be the last phase... but still, will I be able to access Phase 4 with a pre-order?
