I could use some help with a color on a skin. I recently found Findexer, and really like it. The skin I found it with and first used it was fine. Any other skins I see this and can't figure out how to change it. I attached a screen shot of the current skin I am using. I changed the background color and also changed the color of Findexer to match, but I have this white line. I know it is possible to fix, but I just can't seem to find it. Could anyone l

I thought I would add to this too. I just was having the same trouble. No problems with Earth, the new Gloss Burgundy or Quest (I 2 of the three after Diamond). I can apply the wallpaper and icon package, but no windowblind. I tried deleting and re-installing several times, but no luck. I can't even apply the windowlblind through the windowblind program (not using the MyColors interface. I am running XP with all updates through impulse.
Here is mine:

Wanted to come back to this, to ask on some programs I found. I see Geekbench and PCMark05. Anyone have any experience with these?
I am glad I am not the only one confused by that statement
This is slightly off topic, so I hope no one gets mad, but is there any programs to truly test this? I have heard the term benchmark before. Something to run before sp3, or before running a cleaning program and defrag, to really "see" the difference. Any one have input on that?
System seems to be noticeably quicker.
This is what I have been wondering. People have been talking a speed boost. So you see a marked improvement in speed with SP3? Is there any good programs to use to test the speed of your system, to see for sure or how much improvement is really there?
Redrumy3, what WB is that? Also, where did you get that wall?
Thanks to everyone for all the info. I have come to find I can always count on those in this forum for an expert opinion. I did purchase an external usb HD. I bought a western digital 160gb. I really like it. It uses the sync software. It is a little dangerous as it is not a true "backup" software, but has worked good thus far. One benefit of the sync is that a full backup takes very little time, and it also does outlook backups. Very handy when I am wiping someone's HD clean for them.<b
I have been able to find all sorts of resources on how to partition a hard drive, but I still have a question regarding the "theory". Is creating a HD partition helpful for a normal computer user? Using a fairly new to brand new, high end pc, will it speed up performance a noticable amount? Will it speed boot times? Is it helpful even for those who use their computer for e-mail and a few pictures? I also suspect it will aid it backing up files, as you can backup an
When can we add our own? In .bmp or .jpg format please.
Anyone have any updates on this? I too would like to add my own.
I just got a new computer, so I used only Impulse for installing all stardock stuff. Initial install went fine, Impulse loaded and registered just fine. It actually showed that I had OD ultimate. I had a problem with Windowblinds, though. It installed fine, but I had a lot of trouble loading any skins. I should note this is on a dual core machine, 2gb ram, Vista home prem. I finally got WB to load skins, but it was acting very funny. Then, impulse showed an update for WB. It would update
I would like to try tuneup utilities 2008 but they don't allow you to use it on more than one computer. I have several and I really don't think I need to buy it for each computer, since they are all mine. I will probably still try the free trial just to see.
Yup ! Works well for me ..Looks great ... I use XP Pro SP2 However... I would like to use my own backgrounds .. Where can I find the folder where they are stored ?
I would like to ask this again. I just found this thread and updated to the latest beta of WB to have this. I too would like to use my own. I added an image to the directory where they are stored and it does not show up in the box of items you can select. Anyone have any input? The only thing I did
It was late 2007 for me. Actually, the movie Live Free or Die Hard got me to Stardock/Wincustomize. I saw the alienware gear for the first time. That lead to their download page, which lead to Stardock. I guess I fell "victim" to product placement. I won't complain though!
Excellent. Thanks again guys.
That makes sense. I will give that a shot. Do I still need to click on "create WBA package" in skin studio, or only what you described above? A side question, but if all I need to do is use winrar, why does skinstudio have a that selection? What does that do? Thanks for the quick reply.
I could use some help to create the windowblind file. I have a windowblind I like but I like to make a few changes to make it a little more personal. I would like to create the file to use on my other computer so I don't have to make the changes twice. I am using the latest beta of Skin studio 6, windowblinds (no beta), and XP. After I make my changes, the blindworks fine. I use the "make WBA package" under the file menu. It creates the file, but is very very small
Corky_O, I just thought I would reply back, it has been a while. I kept having trouble with other things with my computer. It had ended up back with Dell and they are trying to fix it. It has the guy working on it a little confused. I don't think he even really believed me on the problems I was having (I had other stuff from what I mentioned here, plus, a whole host of new problems that arose when I tried to re-install windows. They are replacing the mother board and hopefully that
I have a question regarding screen savings and cpu usage. I found some I like and one in particular has my cpu usage at 50% while it is running. I am running a new dell optiplex 755 dual core with 2gb ram, and dual monitors hooked up to a 256mb GeForce graphics card. My question is does it "hurt" to run this screen saver with cpu usage that high? I have it set so my monitors turn off after one hour, but I don't know if that drops cpu usage or not. Anyone hav
I would make sure that the 'Launch folder windows in a separate process' is deselected under 'Folder options > View tab' to start with. After that, I would go back into the 'My Computer > tools > folder options > file types' mentioned by Bichur and see if you somehow changed the default program to open that 'file type' (I believe it should be 'explorer.exe, but again; I am running Vista which no longer has the 'file type' section in folder options).
I messed arou
Also, and I don't know if it is related to the drives no opening, but when I right click, select explore, my c drive still shows video tasks. Thanks again for all the help from everyone here. I really appreciate it.
I'm not sure if it will help, the tools-folder options window has "restore defaults" buttons, also microsofts tweakui has a rebuild icon cache button tho i don't know if it will fix the missing overlay.
I had tried that as well. It took a delete of that one registry key. That solved it. Now to just get my drives to open properly.....
That 'DriveIcons' key is the problem. Just delete that 'DriveIcons' key (folder) in the registry and reboot. That should do it.
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated! I still have that other problem. When I go into my computer and double click on any drive, c, d, e, it opens a separate window for a search. Any thoughts on this one?
