No matter what you do, I guess we will always have ignorant people plaguing our boards...

I'll do it ! What's the pay lol - I wish
My tip: take a 5 to 10 second high quality video loop (via, mpeg2) and import into adobe flash mx 2004 or later. save as animated GIF image and resize it to 768x1024. with the right compression you could have a high quality animated image. now add the image to your desktop and WALLAH!!! animated desktop. i do that because i myself can not afford anything but xp. and it's a lot better than using a program to do the work which will decrease cpu usage. Wow.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Neil - now all I have to do is wait for it
lol bistro...
Wait a minute, am I misunderstanding something here? I just read this entire thread and the impression I'm getting from the people posting here is that the earth .dream will ONLY be available to Object Desktop users... period. I was under the impression that such was the case only for beta testing, and that the earth .dream would be released to the general public as a premium dream. Could someone please clear this up for me? Thanks
Won't stardock make alot more money if they make deskscapes work with all editions rather than just ultimate? like make a standalone version that doesn't require dreamscene? Sure... they might. But then again... they would probably lose all of it (and then some) when Microsoft retaliates with a nice big juicy lawsuit. Honestly I'm not even sure if Microsoft can sue Stardock if they did something like that, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit.<br
True enough vStyler - here's to hoping the changes arrive at our doorsteps sooner than later!
I agree 100% with Zubaz... people are casting their judgment way too soon. Wait until triggered dreams get completely fleshed out(not just a week or two after their debut!) and a lot more premium quality dreams are released before you officially deem dreamscenes and deskcapes "a flop". Personally im totally excited about the whole thing. Every day I wake up wondering "oh! I wonder if 1.01 is out yet. Oh! I wonder if the final version of dreamscene has been released yet! Oh I wonder if t
Ugh the lowest I've ever seen it for any dream (and I've ran just about all of them) is about 30% (normally the Stardock dreams fall in this range). Average is about 40%. Some dreams run me up as high as 50% or more (I think one poorly encoded dream had me chugging 70%, but I've only seen it that high for 2 or 3 dreams). Using an FX-55 with a 7800GTX (and yes I have the latest Nvidia drivers).
It appears I misunderstood your earlier statement, then. Thank you for clearing that up You make very good points Niel, and I'm having a hard time finding some way to argue against them. I suppose only time will tell - but as unlikely as it sounds, here's to hoping the final version does *something* to my horrible cpu usage.
Neil, I'm taking the following sentence directly from the Windows Ultimate Team's website. It's taken from the blog of Aaron Hare, a technical staff member of the team. The particular blog he wrote this in was an FAQ answering common questions the team had been getting through the website. What will be different in the final version of DreamScene? Lots of performance enhancements and improved stability in a lot of scenarios; and support for mo
Well Dan B please keep in mind that DreamScene is still in it's preview phase - a lot of people seem to forget that. If you check the windows ultimate website the team there has specifically said that their final product will incorporate many performance and stability fixes - which one can hope would mean lower cpu cycles. Lets not also forget that Dreamscene and Stardock are not the only ones contributing to your dream wallpaper experience. Once again a lot of people seem to forget th
I have submitted over 10 dreams, all rejected. 10 dreams and not one accepted, you say. Without sounding too harsh, perhaps you should consider your own work before blaming the moderators at this site. If I were to submit 10 dreams and not even one were to be accepted, that would ring off bells in my mind that maybe, just maybe, I'm doing something wrong...
now lets bring on the dreams of all shapes and sizes and of course kick ass quality and res so every one can say i have a dream LOL It seems that we have a modern version of Mr. King on this forum doesn't it?
Brad my man you stayed true to your words from beginning to end. When Blissful Sunset first came out I was worried that it would never see triggered content, and although you told me such an update wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities, you didn't give me a direct answer. I am truly, truly glad Stardock made the effort of making the wonderful dream even better. This, ladies and gentlemen,
However, next week you'll get your wish as dynamic dreams start to be made public which run natively at the resolution of your display (i.e. 1200p or higher for instance). So the better your machine, the fancier it'll look. Oo!!! I hadn't even thought about that! It makes perfect sense though, of course it'll run on whatever you're using. Genius! Simply Genius!
I have to say I agree 100% with all the recent posts in Dragoro's defense. In fact that's the stand I took from the beginning by simply asking him to clarify. The post I made about beggars cant be choosers was just there to make a point, and wasn't really aimed or directed at Dragoro specifically - sorry if that got misinterpreted that way Anyways it makes me smile to know that we have such a mature
I can't give much therefore I don't ask for much. Exactly my friend. I have only been here with Wincustomize since DreamScene was released, which isnt much. In that short timeframe I haven't contributed a single piece of anything, and seeing as how I lack any artistic skill whatsoever, I dont plan to. Saying all of that, what right do I have to _itch and moan about this and that? I would accept someone making an argument against that for premium content,
Tone is always hard to convey in text, maybe Dagoro wants to try again? That's kind of what I wanted to achieve with my post. I know (or at least think) that he has a very valid point, but he just found a really bad way of expressing himself. Frankly I think if the OP were to restate his post with more details and perhaps find a better way or ironing out that tone found in the first post, we'd get somewhere. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smile
I'm just a tad curious, if I may ask: Just what IS this "higher end" dream you speak of that "lower end" machines can't run? Do you require ungodly resolutions and anything below 1080p is completely unacceptable? Is the quality of the artwork being presented here by both Stardock and the wonderful individual artist not quite up to par with your definition of "high end"? Is there something I'm missing? Don't take this post the wrong way, please. I truly am 100% genuinely curious about y
Oo... oO... Oo... Someone pinch me. Did I just see a screenshot of Blissful Sunset with triggers above??? And here I was thinking the day that would happen was somewhere off in my imagination. Stardock - if this is true... I love you...
Rip Off? Not a chance. The two may have slightly similar concepts... but thats it. If MasterBaron's amazing dream is being delayed for some reason unknown to me, it sure isn't because Stardock feels that he copied their content!
Zubaz makes a damn good point. MS wouldn't be very happy with Stardock if they did something like that. (I would even think a lawsuit could be involved there somewhere) Saying "I wouldn't hold my breath" is an understatement, frankly. -Yosmel
