Re your other question. Yes, there is a mechanism on the SDC site to archive the patch DLs, so you can apply them to future installs/re-installs. drrider

You have already named all the uses of influence...except of course that if you can cover 75% of the map area with your predominant influence, you win an Influenc victory. drrider
Have you asked Nvidia what they think? (please don't laugh, there must be some human beings there somewhere.) drrider
As you can see in the big list, there is already an expansion bundle available 40 dollars. You can buy it here. I don't think that's what he meant. I think he was talking about something like Gold Edition with everything rolled together into a single install, and disk space optimized. Per conversations I've had with Sales, it'll probably happen, but there are no plans/dates yet. Gold Edition packaging / marketing plans did not develop until b
This shouldn't happen. IIRC DreadLords have planets of 20M pop max, and not 1396M like in your case. Did one race gave Algol I to DLs? BR, Iztok Iztok, I'm not sure what he is asking, since I haven't played the campaign, but just from the posted screen shot, it appears to me that the 1396M Dread Lords were the invaders, not the defenders on planet. drrider
And how exactly is "sneak attack" defined? See my previous post laying out the idea. If I'm crushing an empire by influence and they declare war due to that, am I supposed to wait a few turns before I start killing their ships in my space? No, why would you? You are already at war. "Sneak" attacks are by definition off the table. Are their planets in my space off l
Exactly. Any sort of defensive bonus against sneak attacks will also penalize people who respond well to a sneak attack against them. Why? If it is applied after the 1st qualifying attack occurs, but before the next player turn? The civs are at war at that point and by definition a quick and effective response by the attacked party vs someone they are already at war with could not be a sneak attack. I don't see how that would happen. drrider
Cari - this isn't exactly a Change issue, but it was something I noticed again in recent play. What does the Subspace Annihilator tech DO? Text implies that it doesn't provide a new weapon, but pumps up the effects of Subspace Blasters. But in play and in the evidence in the .xml files, it doesn't seem to DO anything. Is this an error that cna be corrected, or is the tech intended to be just an extra null effect step toward Doom Ray? drrider
Sounds like all these descriptions are being written from sort of an Encyclopaedia of Galactic History viewpoint, rather than from the view point of the pertinent race. If that is the case, I would suggest some visual clue to make that clear. Perhaps as starting cite reference at the top of the description, something like: "From the Encyclopaedia Glactana, 2355 Universal Ed.: Hyper Fusion Reactors Hyper Fusion Reactors were the keystone of true in
Just post your running opinion here about every other night, and kill two birds with one subspace blaster. drrider
My young friend who is into such things tells me that if you liked Total A., you gotta try Supreme Commander. drrider
Yes, I've seen it. Got the scars, too. drrider
And finally (probably least importantly!), it just doesn't make any logical sense! I have never understood this complaint. Does a 'factory' that takes up a million square miles make any sense? Isn't it more like the 'Rust Belt region of the North American continent'? Does a 'lab' that covers the eqivalent of 4 large states make any sense? Isn't it more like the 'high technology corridor of Southern Calforina'? Adjust your sca
Actually, I lied - unintentionally. In the 1.61 StarbaseModules.xml file there is a line (arrow brakets replaced by {} so the will show up in the post): {Module_Requirement}{/Module_Requirement} In the 1.70c{b}.100 StarbaseModules.xml file, that line shows up as: {Module_Requirement/} when viewed via the browser, but shows as {Module_Requirement}{/Module_Requirement} when looked at in an editor. I am not enough of an .html jockey to guess what t
Electronic Arts are pitiful, always have been. Actually, EA was a wonderful and responsive company back in the days of the Buten brothers(?? - you oldsters know what I mean); of Archon , and 7 Cities of Gold , and (heavenly trupets in the background) M.U.L.E. Of course, that WAS ~20 years ago, and the suits have been running the company for a long time now. drrider
Under the (almost completely useless) planetary govenor screen there is a destroy this colony button. Noticed it but never even considered using it. Of course the planetary governor screen is NOT useless. It allows you to turn off the often to be damned automatic building upgrades, and on a planet by planet basis also. drrider
Butterfly, could you create another avatar who could stay with us? In fact, keep your aged butterfly here, and send a caterpiller off to run you new toy. drrider
Hey, a few months ago there were a couple of threads that asked how old forum readers were. There were hundreds of responses. Perhaps we could cull through those threads for many names of decrepitude to send invites to. drrider
Lovely! Especially if you can time it to right AFTER it flips one of the planets in the system to you. drrider PS - I love this game.
You bumped a post from the same DAY!?! On a SUNDAY!?! C'mon, whadda ya think, they LIVE in the office? drrider
BTW, Purge, congratulations. You are the only MV player I've noted whose profile difficulty dial is all the way over in Suicidal! drrider
How about a 'decathalon' medal for wins in a wide variety of settings? Wins in: Good, and Neutral, and Evil; Tiny galaxies and Gigantic (or Immense?) galaxies; Rare settings and Abundant settings; With at least 3 different races; With each victory type; At least Masochistic (Challenging?) dificulty. Wow, I am always impressed by the tremendous variability this game has, when I thi
Why not try to accumulate a record of wins in each alignment? Are you seeking true mastery, grasshopper? drrider
Guys, how about some medals that distinguish between consistent wins at 'Rare' vs 'Abundant' settings, which require different skill sets /styles of play? drrider
Gentlemen, I don't have a current game with an appropriately damaged starbase to check via function, however I have checked / compared the StarbaseModules.html files of v.1.70c[b].001 and v.1.61. They are identical. In case you have never used the Starbase Hull Repair Kit in actual play, be advised that it only shows up on the list of available modules when a constructor arrives at a Starbase that has at least 1 hit point of battle damage. In that case, it shows up as the LAS
