mica you dont even seem to understand what you're analyzing. You're analysis is purely about the return rate: how long it takes for an empire of qualified size to return on its research investment. thats perfectly fine to research, but it has nothing to do "with the worth of the research" as its benefits are doublefold, if only developing later on.
i think its more that u dont understand that doing it any other way would make it far too complicate. You sim
the answer is obvious, ASAP as long as its not interfering with your other research.
the answer isnt obvious at all. From your experience u might have come to the conclusion that it makes sense to research them as soon as possible but thats still not very accurate or based with any "facts". The question here is how long it takes for upgrades to pay off and even if they do in a decent time then the question still remains if the upgrades are wo
there is defiantly no rushing like in starcraft. U can very early build turrents around your planet which are very tough to beat and not too expensive. Then it also shouldnt be ignored that every grav well has pirates in it, making it hard to go straight to the enemy without taking damage and you will need your ships to free systems from pirates to colonize them else your economy will be so bad so that ur opponent will outnumber you fast. On top of this a single Cap ship will need a long
ya but ppl should realise that its impossible to create an AI in a RTS based game which can compete against decent players. So you will prolly always have to use more than one AI opponent to get a real change. Still in the end you will always find a way to "exploit" the shortcomings every AI has.
No bloom for me mate. It seems I have an older version compared to yours.
u prollay have the beta version which is available on torrent sites. :o Though no offense to you, i understand that ppl want to test the game in this way or get at least a first impression. But its exactly just that, not more than a little demo and really outdated by now. A lot was already changed in beta4 and even more will be changed
ppl mostly hang around on stardock irc server (channel #sins) to get games going. The beta player community is ofc not that big and noone can say how it will look after release but if join irc and ask for a game then u will find someone to play most of the time.
Brad Wardell (Stardock executive producer) wrote a litte sins blog entry [link="http://blogs.ign.com/Stardock_Games/2008/01/18/77446/"]here[/link]. Well u know the procedure, rate the article and post ur opinion about the game in the comments. :)
Why is WoW on top? you can create your own Character and Pretend with friends. No, addictive gameplay put wow on top. Most players ignore the story. So its now nearly 10 years ago and im still stuck with my first love Starcraft and i was already sure that prolly only Starcraft II can be a worthy successor. Somehow, I doubt SC2 will be a "worthy successor". If only on the gro
ya one can only hope that SD/IC find a publisher for europe. There is defiantly interested for such a game in germany. I know so many ppl waiting for a game like this (ya i ofc already informed them about this game :p ) and im sure that many more are out there just waiting for someone to show them a game like Sins. for the germans here (more than i thought): Bin mal gespannt wie die PC Games/Gamestar Sins bewerten werden, zwar sind mir solche Reviews egal, aber ihren Einfluss auf den Er
i could write a long text about what makes Sins special but instead ill tell something about myself. It was the year 1998 when i finally found the perfect RTS, named Starcraft. From that moment on i played it till pretty much last year (with a few breaks inbetween). I am/was really into this game but was it really just Starcraft that kept me playing it for so long? No, defiantly not. Through all the years i tried countless of other RTS (all major ones like AoE, WC3, C&C etc.), w
ya carriers are currently a bit overpowered but there will defiantly be changes in the final version so that anti strikecraft ships should work better.
Blair do u know something? I fucking love you guys. :D Everytime someone has a suggestion/complaint we get to know that it has already been addressed. Its amazing that you guys changed so much and took all the feedback from beta4 to the final product. If its rly all in the final and working properly then Sins will be for sure a hit. :)
i like backdoors :D
It can handle very large textures but for memory purpose we've downsampled them all from their original form. We may release an uber-rez package in the future if there is enough interest. In the game currently here a few averages: Planets: 2048x2048 Capitals: 1024x2048 Frigates: 1024x1024
there will be defiantly a interest in larger textures.
done. You know for you i would do anything. ;) - Leinad
