Errr, the bonus is working correctly. The problem is that the bonus is not labeled correctly. Instead of saying +1 trade routes, it says +1% trade routes. This is a common thing in GalCiv games, to put % in bonuses where a % does not belong. For example infleunce starbases modules may say it gives +7% influence, but it really gives +7 influence to that starbase. Dunno about the speed bonus, I used that only once and I think I reme

And just because the AI grabs a fwe more planets than you doesn't mean that the game is over and impossibly difficult. Build some offensive ships, research planetary invasion, you know. . . . Although I really find it hard to believe that the AI got 14 colonies before you got one, got a saved game or pictures of that? I am guessing you got a really, really bad starting position. In that case, just remake the game.
Yeah, if you use larger hulls then weapons/armor are a bit larger. It's weird you are suprised by this, because it is kinda obvious when you play GC2. Your source should be just playing the game and writing down the numbers you get, otherwise It's too cluttered in the beginning to see what's happening. Oh yeah, and you forget the nano-ripper. What exactly do you need to reverse-engineer? The way combat and ship building works is
You can't build more than one starport on a planet. More manufacturing centers= more production. Also crank up the military slider in your domestic policy scereen (F4 key)
That's the link, thanks Peace Phoenix. Nah, AW's game should be left up there until 1.1 is released or the scoring is fixed. AW could have just made serveral games and not have exploited as blantantly and keep all of the top rankings. Most likely no one would've known about the problem and Stardock wouldn't have fixed it until people kept making longer and longer games until someone browsing the metaverse finally figured it out. W
I can't find the post now, but in some thread 1-3 days ago Frogboy said that since that score was designed merely to cheat the system that it was being taken down in addition to the scoring changes. Wiping your entire profile would be something that Blizzard would do and get a lot of hate from the players for. Now that Stardock did something similar I wonder if the fanboys will defend Stardock still. I Feel for you AW. And I am al
No, the U.P. hasn't been fixed yet. They should make those elections two-staged, so you first vote yes or no and then vote on how much. The U.P. is a great idea, but poorly implemented in GC2.
Playing Beta-3 on Crippling right now and something I've always noticed is that the AI builds it's small PQs weirdly. It's impossible to mess up a high PQ planet, as long as it is full with stuff it'll be a great planet. But a small PQ well you don't need a starport on a 5 PQ planet. You only have 5 tiles, the starport + initial colony alone take up 2 out of the 5 tiles. Sure you could have 3 factories and make a gimpy constructor building planet but I
It's not really a cheat, more of a bug. Since it's campaign I guess the AI is allowed some cheats/bonuses that are not normally in 'skirmish' mode? Maybe? Anyways sounds like something is wrong with the dread lord AI target_nearest_starbase function, like it targets the nearest enemy starbase regardless of it has seen it...or something like that. I've seen enough weirdness like this to have given up on the campaign, very strange
Actually, Frogboy calls it a "reduced MSRP" in that link, Mascrinthus, so Stardock has been consistent I believe. In other posts and interviews they probably forget the reduced part when they say MSRP. I wouldn't say you can get the game for $34.95 via TGN. You get 10 tokens for $70 from TGN. And it's 5 tokens to get GC2, but you still have 5 tokens left over and let's be honest, TGN doesn't have many block-buster great games besides GC2.<br
Lol, 5X game, ok buddy. Research is very important, and the OP doesn't make much sense at all. What is the point of doing research? Getting more powerful weapons? Faster engines? No. The whole point is economics Unless you are going for a influence victory, then you
Governments are mislabeled. It should give you an economy bonus only(which is working btw), not research or production, this has been stated by the devs. I know that the +research from economy starbases are working, dunno about research resources, will test those out. Social transfer only works if you have at least 1% into military. Which is hardly game breaking, very small bug and a very easy workaround. Lost turns on saved games
I'm gonna stic kmy neck out and make a suggestion. If it's completely undoable/stupid/retarded/ignorantwhatever, don't bite my virtual head off. Perhaps you could elect a UP leader? the leader would get soem bonuses, like being able to veto a bill, 1 or 2 extra trade routes, being able to call a UP meeting, etc.
I just don't get the point of minor races. I find them easily abusable, dumber than usual AI and they have no plan whatsoever. I turn off minor races now(in Beta-2A) I just plain don't understand the concept of minor races, the I-League and Fundamentalists sound fun but I've never seen them in any of my GC2 games(back when I had minors turned on). Sadly I think minor races were not well thought out and should've gotten the axe in
Ha, I asked why they sold GC1 for $39.99 online when it retailed for $9.99 or $14.99 after a few months of release and I got flamed something fierce by the devs. Retail availability (or unavailability as it seems) is common to Galactic Civ games, don't give me any BS, I bought GC1 and it's exp from retail and had to go through many stores to find a copy (in LA, that a big enough market for ya?) Good review, I'd say it's more on point than th
Yup, I think you need to have 10-12 turns of enforced peace after you sign a peace treaty. Either that or if you declare war on them again, they will never accept peace with you again and you take a decent diplomactic hit with all the other races. Pot idea doesn't solve the problem at all. I demand 5k BC from the enemy for peace. I put 5k BC into the pot, then I attack and lose 5k BC. I demand 5k from the enemy for peace, etc, etc. This migh
This has always bugged me. Still in Beta-2A so I thought I'd make a post. When you capture a planet, you always steal an enemy tech. The problem is that you can steal any tech from them. I am using Laser Vs and I just stole Singularity II from the enemy. I have never researched anything in the mass driver line. That is problem #1. Problem #2 is that I can now research Singularity III, skipping all of the previous mass driver techs. Third pro
An easy way to share ship designs coming in 1.1 or later or ever? Because right now it's pretty awkward, gotta copy the right files, then load up the ship then save the game, I'm guessing it's too difficult for most users. Sounds good to me, can't wait. Always funny how Frogboy posts at like 2am on a saturday. Oh and btw, don't forget to set your clocks an hour forward (for people in the U.S. only)
Trade is awesome. It's usually the tech I beeline for after I grab the tech for a manufacturing capital. 5-6 BC a turn for free is awesome, it actually averages out to more than what the pop-up box says. At least that's what I think, check your tradw window after 20 or so turns after the trade route starts, you should be pulling in a decent amount of cash. Second great part about trade is that it gives + diplomacy. You can get a +
Ok, there's a lot of people saying that the CIv4 AI is bad and the GC2 AI is good and as I long time player of Civ4, I am going to set the record straight: The AI kicks my butt at Normal. Sorry, your majesty, that you are so great and intelligent that even GalCiv AI can't live up to your lofty expectations. To the guy who said Civ 4's AI is bett
I thought the AI was being improved in 1.1 Beta? This is just ridiculous: This is on Masochist difficulty, beta 1.1 (happened in all versions but I was waiting patiently for a patch, I have given up on the pati
Did you know that whatever you type on the keyboard appears on the screen Seriously dude, anything that is printed all over the box probably shouldn't qualify as helpful advice. Maybe there's someone who doesn't know the 2 things you listed, but his name is probably Fluffy and he's probably a dog. I dunno how he bought a copy of GC2 AND got on the internet, wow some dog that Fluffy is.
Good fences make good neighbors There, NOW it's a Robert Frost quote. I win all the time while using my own no tech trading (which is I never trade) You need to build up a decent military to ward off early attacks. Eventually someone will get mad at you and declare war. So just take their planets. Dunno what else to tell you except have a few heavy industry planets and utilize your bonuses as much as possible. Should be a piece of cake at Tough.
Yeah, I don't use diplomacy either because it just makes the game trivial (give the AI +10000000% bonuses, it doesn't matter) Reminds me of the CIv3 trading scheme, which was god-awful as well. Although, the Civ4 trading is extremely well done, makers of GC2 should buy a copy of Civ4 and make notes and maybe beg the makers of Civ4 to give them tips on coding diplomacy and trading. But for now, I consider diplomacy picks
