Thanks very much to the poster for this. I have a question for anyone who understands more about what securom does and how it gets installed: There are a lot of games that I would love to play but don't because of this horrid protection scheme. Spore is one that I would love to try out, along with many other EA games--C&C games and such. Here is my question: If after intalling the game I remove securom, will it just reinstall iteself by running the game's
There's a limit to this, however. It's not like programming is magic. There are many technical limitations, especially with memory addressing and 32-bit OS, which is what Sins has been bumping into quite a lot, actually. As a programmer, you should be well aware of this.
Speaking of which, I would love to see a SOASE 64-bit version; perhaps that is something to look forward to with SOASE 2! But to address
We would rather you wait for the demo if you want to try it. Many of those who pirate are not trying the game, they are stealing it. And yes, some of those folks would have never bought the game at all. And we are not "DRM-Free". We are don't get in the way of legit customers. There is a difference.
I do have a question for you. I am in the exact situation as the OP. I got this off of Demo
For this map, I did want the possibility of jumping between stars, but that would obviously have to wait until the tech was researched. I see that the "shelf levels" are random. I just whipped up a quick map with 4 stars. 1 Star held the planets, which were made from the three other stars. After editing and reloading the map the z axis positions were quite different. The whole effect is really neat though. You can't just navigate the map from a top-down p
You mean the x,y axis? Yea, but that doesn't give the control to place a planet on a z axis. Unless I'm missing something?
I was playing around with Galaxy Forge today and I thought it would be neat to have two star systems connected by an asteroid belt. The belt would be several asteroid types in a string splitting the 2 systems and could be accessed from either system via their respective outer planets through phase lines only. I wasn't even sure this would work as I imagined, as the 2 systems would be connected through phase lines making interstellar research redundant--as if you were playing with 1 star
Everything that I would want has already been covered, diplomacy-wise. Lots of great ideas! My suggestion now has nothing to do with game mechanics. What I would like is the option to use my own music in the game. For example, if I had a separate 'battle music' folder that I could drop some shortcuts to a few mp3s. kind of like GTA where you can tune a car radio to 'mp3' and it does just that. And perhaps an option to enable/disable the feature in the aud
I can't remember which was first, or the names at this point, but I do remember loving one game I had on my old "IBM compatible" I guess it was an x86?? Just not sure.): Leisure Suit Larry A buddy and I used to giggle ourselves silly playing that. Just imagine a couple of 11 year olds coming home every day after school trying hopelessly to get Larry laid laughing our asses off, but not too loud--we had to keep an ear out for when my mom got home so that we could qu
Thanks for the info on ETW. I was really thinking about getting that one. I will, more than likely, but I think I'll wait a bit now.
Thanks harpo! I took your advice and looked at the ancient gifts map (that's what you meant, right?). I believe I got it working. I did some experimenting with galaxy forge and got it to produce the code properly too (to save myself time in the future). Always good to have an example to go by. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! [e digicons][/e]
I was hoping someone might be able to help me here. I wanted to place a particular artifact on an asteroid, the WormholeTravel artifact. This is the code that Galaxy Forge produced for the planet in question: planet designName "Planet5" inGameName "" type "Asteroid" pos [ 330 , 212 ]
Thanks. I am now able to select the Imperial race, and started a game up fine. I used the random small map to test it but did get a minidump about 15 minutes into it.
here are the instructions contained in the zip file. If you get it working please enlighten the rest of us [e digicons][/e] This is the "Star Wars - Reqiuem" Mod v1.0 DETAILS You can find all the information you need about this mod at http://sins.imperial.cc INSTALL - Unzip this archive into your Entrenchment Mods directory, overwrite all files - If you don't know where that is, go to Options
I used winRAR, but winzip should be fine. This happens also when right-clicking the file " Requiem.zip "?
I got a setup that is very close to yours-- Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8400, 2x GeForce 9800 GT in SLI and 4 gigs of ram. Vista home premium 64 bit. It runs beautifully with all graphics ramped up. I don't think you'll have any problem. [e digicons][/e]
I've unzipped the files and the mod seems to enable without crashing or anything, but Imperial is not a selection when choosing a race? The UI changes are present.

It didn't occur to you guys that it might just be a good idea to make this game have default settings that would be accepted by any computer that met it's operating reqs? What did you have as a "Plan B" if you encountered a customer who doesn't know how to go about fiddling with the files and such manually? This has got to be one of the biggect release blunders I've ever encountered.
Th
Forgive my ignorance, but what is meant by ICO? And when forwarding ports, as it says, 6112 6001 -> in the user.settings -> Gamehostport. In my user.settings file it has these lines: LastGameHostPortConnectedTo 6112 GameHostPort 6112 GameBroadcastPort 6000 EnableUPnPPortForwarding TRUE does this mean to forward both 6112 and 6000 to the hosting PC? And what protocol? I would assume either or both TCP/UDP? Also I do not u
I've had this game for about a week (Sins + Entrenchment) and I think I'm ready to try some human opponents now. I've got a couple days off coming up March 17 & 18 that I'm willing to devote to my ass getting stomped [e digicons][/e] . I don't think I'm really interested in a 2 vs cpu "comp stomp" as it seems to be called, but if anyone is willing to try a 1 vs 1 or FFA on these days let me know. I'm sure that playing against me will be about as difficult as play
I think you misunderstand. For example when I have mouse strafing enabled, I cannot strafe right or down with the mouse or arrow keys. Left and upward strafes fine. I think I've found the problem anyway: I had all graphics maxed out. This worked fine with small and medium sized maps, but the huge one I was using couldn't handle it. After turning down some of the graphics options it started to work again. I still have problems with it when ship numbe
I started up a game today and during the game, as the title says, I lost the ability to strafe right or down with either the keyboard or mouse (I usually have mouse-strafing disabled). I'm not sure exactly how far into the game this occurred. For the heck of it I tried loading up one of my older save games and I could strafe no problem. It just seems to be with the one game-save. It was a random huge map, and I'd never played one of th
