Pinned Him To The Wall By His Throat

Not Proud Of It

Ok, I should say that I am not a violent person. These days I hate violence of any kind. But this guy just had it coming.

I was in the grocery store picking out a few things to tide me over through the weekend, some tofu crumbles, salad mix, fruits, etc... I was totally minding my own business. Some jerk comes up to me asking if I am a vegetarian. I say "yes, I am". He really starts ragging on me about it, telling me how I am a communist, a hippy, and how I am hurting America.

Ok, ya have to picture this. I am six feet tall, and weigh 200lbs. Because of all of the effort I have put into recovering from the car wreck there isn't much body fat on my frame. Bicycle riding, lifting weights, etc.... Not exactly a small guy. This dude is maybe 5ft 10inches, and looks, well, creepy. I should be a better person I guess, but he pissed me off.

I told him to just mind his own business, but he wouldn't let it go. He kept on at me. I tried scaring him into letting it go with "that look" that I have. It didn't work either, this guy was totally clueless.

Finally, I just had heard enough after trying to scare him, walk away, and nothing was working. I grabbed him by the throat, lifted him about an inch off the floor, and pinned him against the wall. I explained to him the concepts of good manners, minding your own business, and not screwing with people who are much larger than you are.

About the time his face was turning from red to blue I figured he had heard enough and let him go. I then had to explain things to the teenaged grocery employees who had gathered there. I am thankful none of them had the good sense to call for the police as I really hate spending a night in jail.

Not the smartest thing I have ever done, but some people just piss you off, you know?

Some idiots just need to have that last little bit stuffed down their throat, "before" they get a clue!

Yeah, I guess I agree. Some people just have it coming. But I have been feeling especially aggressive of late. Maybe it's me.

He sounds like a moron to me. You tried to resolve it in a civilized manner; sometimes whether you like it or not, you gotta go to plan B when civility doesn't work.

While I don't necessarily advocate violence, sometimes the only way to get through to some people is in a way they understand. The creep had it coming...

Man Mason, you weren't that violent when you were a carnivore, I didn't know eating Tofu could turn a person like that!

((((I bet the jerk doesn't tell a soul about how a "veghead" got the best of him! )))) ;~D

Yes sir!  That was a great story.

YOu showed great restraint and exercised the proper amount of force to subdue a perpertrator that was assaulting you.  If they would have come (the cops), you could easily have pressed charges against the pencil neck as well.

shoulda impaled him with some sharpened celery stalks.

there isn't much body fat on my frame

altho i never went completely veg, when i was running a lot and later biking a lot, i discovered even small portions of beef could delay transitioning from anaerobic to aerobic glycosis by as much as 45 seconds. for a while i had so lil body fat i could walk around on the bottom of pools

Wow.  You must have a very carnivorous community.  In all my years of buying vegetarian foods, I've never been bothered by anyone.  Of course, I'm truly not sure why anyone would *care*, but I guess there are whack jobs no matter where you go, huh?

And people wonder why Americans have a reputation as the world's dumbest people! Eating veg turns you pink!

yeah, around here it's usually the more vocal vegans that get things heated. Of course, that's usually around hunting season. ;~D

Well, as beef is big business around here I suspect he is probably in the cattle business and feels that vegetarians hurt his business or something. Who knows? Maybe just a nut job.

Some people just need their ass kicked plain and simple. While I am not a vegitarian in the remotest sense of the word I certainly respect your right to eat what you want! what a dumbass! and

I am thankful none of them had the good sense to call for the police as I really hate spending a night in jail.

If you had to do that in mine, I'd hook you up with a couple of good cinnamon rolls and OJ and hot coffee for breakfast!!!

I would expect that kind of behaviour from my 8 yr old (and then correct her for it). Some adult.

Wtg, Mason, I'd be pissed off too.

Interesting, isn't it, how quickly some traditional "free market" supporters abandon it once they feel their livelihoods are threatened? While I know it wouldn't make a difference for you, I personally would buy more beef if they'd stop using growth hormones on the cattle, raise them as free range animals and slaughter them humanely (there's compelling evidence that the slaughterhouse atmosphere raises natural hormone levels in cattle due to the stress, and, as another blogger pointed out, cattle hormones are almost identical to our own, so if it's in the beef, you're probably going to be affected by it). At any rate, the guy's a pinhead.

I agree. While I do not encourage or condone rampant violence, sometimes it really is the most effective way to make a point. And yeah, some folks just need a good ass kicking now and again. I consider it an educational experience for them.

While not quite worth it, it does sound good.

I have to say here that I really am normally a very friendly, easy going type. I try to get along with everyone as best I can, just not to the point of taking a bunch of shit from some asshole.

Ya, back in the day when I was a vegetarian, I too recieved my share of abuse (the most amusing time was by a obese individual, at my doorstep trying to sell his religion to me) ... ya just gotta rack it up to ignorance and fear ...

Eh...I probably would've done the same thing. When people don't take the hint to leave you alone...sometimes they need a more "straightforward" approach.

gee mason as an avowed peace activist I must protest in the strongest language, did you try diplomacy first? when that failed did you first get permission from a neighbor before attacking this poor innocent soul? Did you form a coalition of the willing and talk about it for years on end before you launched this vicious uncalled for attack on this poor misguided man?

MM walks away feeling superior. heh
