Sick And Tired
Album: Anastascia
Year: 2004
Anastascia has become weary with her boyfriend's false promises in the composed "Sick And Tired."
Stern strings and a huffy guitar open the single, setting a decisive tone. She says that her love is in danger of no longer existing for her boyfriend. A Hindu element is added towards the end.
In the first verse, he is telling her what she wants to hear. However, she blows him off. She says he doesn't deserve her sympathy. However, she wishes she would've left sooner. He turned out to be the exact opposite of he presented himself. She realized that it wasn't going to last forever. She is spent and can't take being disillusioned anymore.
In the chorus, she says that he made the relationship benefit only him. His selfish behavior meant tuning her out when she needed to talk and being apathetic. She's relieved to be free of him.
In the second verse, she says the change in him was sudden. She had thought of marrying him and spending the rest of her life with him. However, her dreams were shattered once he began ignoring her. She began to stress out, wondering if it was her that was the cause. However, leaving him was eventual and something she thought about for a while.
The chorus is sung twice.
The intro is repeated.

"My love is on the line/My love is on the line/My love is on the line/My love is on the line."
"A little late for all the things you didn't say/I'm not sad for you/But I'm sad for all the time I had to waste/'Cause I learned the truth/Your heart is in a place I no longer wanna be/I knew there'd come a day/I'd set you free/'Cause I'm sick and tired/Of always being sick and tired."
In the chorus, she says that he made the relationship benefit only him. His selfish behavior meant tuning her out when she needed to talk and being apathetic. She's relieved to be free of him.
"Your love isn't fair/You live in a world where you didn't listen/And you didn't care/So I'm floating/Floating on air/I'm on air/Oh, yeah."
In the second verse, she says the change in him was sudden. She had thought of marrying him and spending the rest of her life with him. However, her dreams were shattered once he began ignoring her. She began to stress out, wondering if it was her that was the cause. However, leaving him was eventual and something she thought about for a while.
"No warning of such a sad song/Of broken hearts/My dreams of fairy tales and fantasy, oh/Were torn apart/I lost my peace of mind/Somewhere along the way/I knew there'd come a time/You'd hear me say/I'm sick and tired/Of always being sick and tired."
The chorus is sung twice.
The intro is repeated.
"My love is on the line...my love is on the line."
The chorus is sung once more to end the single.
Anastascia is a pro at uptempo breakup songs. She's released a couple with each album with varying results. However, with "Sick And Tired" she has found a comfortable medium. She's learned to tone down her strong vocals. There's a delicacy to them that wasn't there before. She hasn't lost the brashness, though.
"Sick And Tired" is at its best when its a dance song. When it adds rock (like in the intro and in a part of the chorus), it blends too many trends together. The Hindu element, on the other hand, is a cool but underused effect.
The single, despite its missteps, finds Anastascia returning to form.
