GalCiv II vs Sword of the Stars vs Sins of a Solar Empire

I'm sorry if this sounds self serving, but I mean it more as a heads up. I've been working on interviews for each of the three games. I just put the Sins interview up. I hope to get the GalCiv II interview up soon as I'm working with the PR people. Anyway that's not why I'm posting.

It seems that fans of Sins and SotS have taken the little poll on my site personally. They're both trying to get their fans to 'win' the poll. I thought you might like to get in on the fun as well. It's at Talk Strategy News in the upper right hand corner.

Cheers,
Jason (Hrothgar)

The games you mention are military games that focus on tactical battles. That will most likely have lame duck A.I like the rest(RTW,etc) and very little depth in other parts of the game.Aka diplomacy, economy, planets, tech, culture. The only 4X game that has some of my interest (apart from GC2) is SpaceEmpires5.

Galciv is a true 4X game that will have equal focus in all parts of the game(like civ4)and will still be played in 5 years, or untill GC3.

I played Space Empires III and IV; extensively. I like the weapons and defenses better in Space Empires than GalCiv (as I mentioned in a previous post); however, the AI was poor. A poor AI kills a turn based 4X game! I like the AI in the GalCiv2 Beta 5 and the final release promises to be much better. In Space Empires V the graphics are much better than IV, I hope the same is true of the AI!

I'd watch what you say about the AI in SotS Ashberry. A closed mind is often one missing out on a great game. SotS is very, very different from GalCiv2, and I'm getting both. SotS is also multiplayer, something that I have seen poo-pooed for GalCiv2, much to my irritation given how much fun MP Civ4 has turned out to be.
