Lazy Sunday Musings

Hey there everybody. How is it going?
Today is one of those lazy weekend days that I like so much. I woke up late, and then I spent the day playing with my wife and baby, and watching television. The most ambitious thing that I did was to assemble a play center for the baby to sit in and play.
Tomorrow I will be back in it (at work.) I will have to make sure that all my arrangements are in order for those god-awful state-mandated tests that we have to make the kids take. Those things drive me nuts. The series of tests kills almost two weeks out of the school year, as well as over a month preparing for the test while the material that the kids are actually supposed to learn gets put "on-hold."
I watched a lot of TV today. The History Channel was playing an all-day thing about various organized crime organizations in different countries. It was pretty interesting. Every once in a while I like to watch a good gangster movie, or see a gangster documentary.
One could argue that it is a bad thing that these guys are glamorized so much in the media. I can see that point of view. I think that a lot of their appeal is that these guys have an interesting story to tell. It is definitely something that I would not like to be involved with. Another aspect of their appeal may be that "horror movie effect." By seeing things happening on the (TV or movie) screen you are able to experience a level of mayhem and excitement that is absent from everyday life, yet you won't have to deal with the harsh consequences of the lifestyle.

Around my house, my wife and I are discussing getting new cellular phones. We're shopping around for the best deal. We want the most inexpensive phones (that are cute -for my wife- and can take pictures,) with a reasonable rate plan. We usually just use the phones to send text messages back-and-forth anyways.
We're currently in the process of gathering price and product information. It is becoming clear that it may not be a good idea to extend a contract. You'll never get as good of a deal as if you were a new customer.
What a racket.

During the day I was able to take a few pictures. I think that they turned out pretty well.
A lot more of my vegetables are starting to sprout. The corn plants are starting to poke their heads out of the dirt.

Here is Kenny inside of the play center that I assembled today. He seems to be pretty interested in the stuff, but his arms are too short to touch most of the stuff yet.

We were also able to get a number of "happy baby" pictures today. How fun.
