What did 1/1/06 have in store for you?

We entertained last night and our last guests left at about 3AM so we had a nice big mess to wake up to.  Our whole family slept in until about 12:30.  I fed everyone then got to work on the mess.

I didn't end up getting dressed until about 2:00.  I got a "Happy New Year" call from my mom and gave one to my sister.  Next thing I knew it was dinner time.  We had sandwichs since noone really felt like having a "real" meal.

So 1/1/06 has basically been spent cleaning and relaxing.  How did you spend yours?

In the ER getting treated for a kidney infection.

But, before that I helped my daughter color her hair. We put a soft black coloe in the back of it and then highlighted the top and front. The black is semi-permanent, btw, so it'll be gone in a month. It looks really good; very Avril Lavigne-ish.

She likes it too, and that's all that matters to me.

I spent the day giving the house a good cleaning and cooking dinner. In between I took a nap.

I showed the hangover who's boss. I spent the better part of the morning watching Cheaper by the Dozen with my girl after she was dropped off, and the rest of the afternoon watching Indiana Jones. By that time, I was ready to head over to my parents to have New Year's Day dinner.

All in all, it's been a nice, but somewhat slow day.
Happy, Happy, Jill.

I took Brody to get donuts this morning. Went with hubby to take recycling in. Went to the store and got some great deals at Target 75% off. Exchanged a robe at Kohl's. Made dinner. Nothing too exciting.

Yikes! Hope you get some good drugs and are feeling better in a jiffy. The hair sounds awesome!

I did laundry and watched the first DVD of the first season of "House, MD" last night, and today I've been cleaning for company.

Sounds like you and your family had a fun time. Happy New Year to you and yours, Jill.

I woke up with very sore muscles

My family spent New Years Eve day skiing and ended up staying really late for night skiing. It was great but 10 hours of full on exercise is catching up to me today. I woke up taking ibuprofen and not for a hang over! All in all it was a fun day!

Happy New Year to you as well and it is nice to see you back

Good to hear. I have heard that there are studies that show that people driving drunk, especially during the holidays, has steadily decreased in the past 15 yrs. We were diligent about making sure our guests all had a sober driver.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Jill.

Right back at ya Marcie.

At least you didn't have any broken bones! That is what would happen if I tried night skiing 10 hrs straight, you got half your weeks exercise in already!

Happy New Year to you as well and it is nice to see you back

Why thank you and I hope 2006 brings many good things for you and yours.

Our New Year's eve was nice. My b/f and I spent it at home having our own little party...we made appetizers and decorated our place for the occasion...then we toasted at midnight (and of course, did the the midnight kiss) and listened to music the rest of the night.

We spent the 1st day of 2006 at my uncles Birthday party...he truly is a New Year's baby. It's sort of a tradition in my family to attend this party every first day of the year. We ate some good food, and socialized with some relatives. I got to reminisce with my cousins, namely one who works in Iraq and was here for the holidays. We laughed and shared childhood memories...it was great.
I'm glad we were able to spend some time with him, since we won't be seeing him again for another four months or so.

I say the first day of 2006 was a pretty nice one for me.

We spend the day after Xmas to 1/1/06 with friends at their Rancho Mirage hideaway... Played great golf every day, smoked cigars, watched football, movies and wined and dinned with friends. The wives got in some serious shopping when not playing golf, and none of us made it to when the ball fell.

1/1/06 Enjoyed a great drive home, loafing around the house and my son and I enjoyed a movie marathon as my wife laid out the floor plan for redecorating our living room.

My daughter was sick New years eve (luckily she was at her grandparents for it ) so I spent most of the day New Years laying on the couch with her between doing laundry and making dinner.  Hubby was smart and staying in the pole barn working on his snowmobile.  So, it was a pretty low key day, which was nice since I had to get up and go to work this morning.

I had to teach Sunday School so after oversleeping, I prepared my lesson at got our collective butt to church at 9:30 am.
Then we came home and watched movies all day: Fantastic Four, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and War of the Worlds.

One of our friends at our party had to be to work at 5AM. I thought he was crazy for coming and staying until after the ball dropped. He did get a little nap in on our couch though.

Glad to hear it! If you were much of a drinker on New Years Eve, you wouldn't want to have a bday party on the 1st.

Did that most of the day!  Until she wanted to get out of the house!

Well, we had a large group of friends over the night before (with tons of little kids!!!), but didn't stay up much past about 1:30 since we had to be up and ready to head to church by 8:30. Church, letting everyone get naps, and just relaxing filled the rest of the day.

I worked until 2200hrs New Years Eve, getting personnel and equipment put away from flood duty with the National Guard.

Because our cooks were still deployed from the day before supporting the Forestry service on Flood and mud slide duty, I organized a backup detail to laterally feed an Army for a Holiday meal, while we trained and waited on standby for emergency duty.

I have written off every New Years since Y2K. I may miss those New Years parties, but that's my job. If I was 17.5 years old again and knew then what my life has been like, I'd sign those papers again.

That movie looks pretty good. I doubt my hubby would go to it though.

Just over the Boarder in Nevada near Reno. We got some flooding, but have been lucky so far. Now we are looking at snow.

Weird!  Here we are in Michigan, usually up to our middles in snow buy now and it is green as can be outside.  We even had a thunderstorm!

Hope you stay safe and best wishes with your work.

Toasting the New Year with my kids and my hubby at home! Taking lots of pictures and running outside a lot to watch the fireworks all around us!

Sleeping in til 12Noon and then getting up to cook a large meal and eating it buffet style! Stuffing ourselves like pigs and enjoying it. And I had company too - my cousins visited and that was nice!

Then spending the rest of the evening lazing and lolling in front of the telly! And you know what's the best part? Everyone leaving me alone to snore without interruption!

Started my diet. Yes, it's my New Years Resolution. I say I'm not going to make a resolution ever again, but I always do. Usually revolving around my weight. This year is to lose weight and keep it off with exercise. I've decided if I lose 25 lbs and keep it off for 3 months I am going to get Thermage or some other facial thingy so that I look good and feel good. It's a little vain, I know, but I am very goal oriented. I did yoga for a half an hour and took a walk. So far so good for the new year.
