Luxurious
Album: Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
Year: 2005
Gwen Stefani's marriage is fulfilling and rewarding in the modish "Luxurious."
The Isley Brothers' sample of "Between The Sheets" starts the song. A man speaks in French over it. It sets an exquisite tone.
Stefani begins with the chorus. She says that she and her husband maintain their marriage and give it the care it needs. In return, they have a satsifying relationship. They work hard at their jobs and invest the money.
In the first verse, she compares his kisses to white wine. His kisses are savory and divine. Cuddling with him is like being surrounded by an extravagant garden with sculptures and an Olympic-sized pool. It's comforting and relaxing. He is a classy guy who takes her anywhere she wishes. Their love for each other has grown into something deeper over the years. When they look to the sky, they see diamonds, not stars. He treats her well and lets her have anything she wants. She has life good with him.
In the pre-chorus, she says they are both getting spoiled. They live their lives to the fullest. Their relationship is like finely threaded, imported cotton. It's unlike anything else and unique. Their love is warm and silky, like cashmere. They both started out raw and inexperienced regarding relationships. But now, they are the finest couple.
The chorus is sung again.
In the second verse, she says that when they hold hands or hug, the affection becomes as valuable and precious as gold. It's beautiful like the tuberose. Which according to dictionary.com, is a Mexican lilywhite flower. He's sacred to her. When they kiss, it's like out of a movie. She says they are bonded together and will be well into their 80s.
The pre-chorus is sung again, but edited.
The chorus is sung twice. It segues into the bridge.
In the bridge, she imitates the sound a cash register makes. Then, she says that they've worked too hard on their relationship to breakup over something petty. Next, she compares their relationship to marijuana. She says it's something they nurture and they get high from it. Their adoration for each other is hot. It's a flame that never goes out.
The pre-chorus is sung again. Again, it's edited.
After the chorus, the man speaks in French again. Stefani adds"this how we roll" and "baby, we are so expensive" to end the single.
In "Luxurious," the sampling of the Isley Brothers' "Between The Sheets" is noticeable. However, it does not take over the song. Instead, it blends in with the relaxed beats. The single breathes cool, making its self-absorption charming. Stefani is proud of her marriage and wants to brag about it to everybody. It's shameless and over-the-top. Yet, it's not the least bit grating.
"Luxurious" is delightfully cheesy.

"Working so hard every night and day/And now we get the pay back/Trying so hard saving up the paper/Now we get to lay back/Working so hard every night and day/And now we get the pay back, the pay back, the pay back."

"Champagne kisses hold me in your lap of luxury/I only want to fly first class desires, you're my limousine/So elegant the way we ride, our passion it just multiplies/There's platinum lightning in the sky/Look I'm livin' like a queen."
In the pre-chorus, she says they are both getting spoiled. They live their lives to the fullest. Their relationship is like finely threaded, imported cotton. It's unlike anything else and unique. "This kind of love is getting expensive/We know how to live baby/We're luxurious like Egyptian cotton/We're so rich in love we're rollin' in cashmere/Got it in fifth gear baby/Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly."
The chorus is sung again.

"Sugar, honey, sexy baby/When we touch it turns to gold/Sensitive and delicate kinda like a tuberose/You know you are my treasure chest/It's pure perfection when we kiss and/You're my Mr., I'm your Miss/Gonna be until we're old."

"Cha-ching cha-ching we're loaded and we're not gonna blow it/Cha-ching cha-ching we're hooked up with the love cause we grow it/Cha-ching cha-ching we got hydroponic love and we're smokin'/Cha-ching cha-ching we burn it you and I, we are so lit."
