A Departing Son... And One Departed

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=1434631
I attended an awesome game Saturday and got to see the Pats mop the floor with Tampa Bay. It was a great game... but dang! It was COLD!! That's ok... it's all good.

This week, however, has been pretty depressing. First I discovered that Johnny Damon is heading to the *hisssssssssss* Evil Empire. Seriously, I don't harbor any ill will toward him. I understand that baseball is his career and he has to operate within the parameters of what's best for him. Sure will miss him though. Grrrrrrrrrr. Stupid Francona. Can't believe they let him go. But heck... it's gotta be nice to have players from the Yanks calling to woo you. Good luck, Johnny. Just not TOO much. :) On the upside, I can't wait to see Damon with a haircut! *s*

On an even sadder note, Tony Dungy's (head coach of the Indianapolis Colts) 18-year-old son James was found dead in his apartment today. The police don't suspect foul play at this point and believe it to be a case of suicide. I can't even imagine the pain this family must be dealing with right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tony. May the God of all comfort be near you in the coming weeks and months.

hmmm...would love to say something pithy, but this was all greek to me. Not a sports fan, watching it anyway, love to play though.

So I was here and I hope even better players replace the ones who left!

I am really saddened for Tony Dungy.  I was shocked and saddened.

But anything to dis the patriots and Red Sox is great news for me!   Notice the capitalization. Maybe we can feed the former to the fishes!  Boo Hiss!

Now why doesn't this surprise me? *grins*

I was too. As happy as I was to see the Colts lose Sunday (can't help it), I really do respect Tony Dungy. He is a man of character, a man of deep faith who says that his walk with God is more important than anything else he does. We need more men like him.

Why capitalize one and not the other? You don't hate the Sox as much as the pats? Or does the term "dynasty" just leave a bad taste in your mouth? *chuckles* I don't get the feed the fishes part, doc... 'splain for me, please?

Exactly!  The Sox's dont vex my Mets.  The Pats are an evil abomination on the face of football!

Would you believe I have NEVER seen any of the Godfather movies? I'm so deprived.... I keep saying that one day I'm going to go out and rent ALL of them... and have my own little Godfather Marathon, but who has the time?

I watched Damon's press conference today. I wanted to cry just watching... and I think he did too. He seemed to be having a really hard time holding it together. In spite of the extra 12 million dollars, I don't think this was an easy decision for him to make.

Ok, I give. Who is Simon Templar?

Old (60s) TV show called the Saint.  Kind of a small Screen James Bond.  Roger Moore played Simon Templar aka the Saint.

Hehe. Gonna be a rocky start for '06 for your Raiders, Doc. After the garbage calls from the referee squad to day against the Redskins, the Giants are going to be out for blood ... Raider blood.

They also made it into a movie in the last ... oh, heck. It was 1997. Starred Val Kilmer as Simon Templar. Check out ->

All the Raiders want for Christmas is a good head Coach!  But at least the Raiders will be at home.  Slaughter or not.
