hey all -

i've been dinkin' around with a decent image & have had no problems utilizing PSP for the editing, however when i apply the image, i'm still getting pixelated (is that a word? - lol) image for a screen & the progress bar creates a 'trail' where it has passed. i originally started out trying to simply augment the 'ntoskrnl', and thought i had it finally, but still, there was a color issue. the Resource Hack'd edition would come thru really grainy & had WAY too many colors involved, even after utilizing all the palette options & the '16.pal' and 'win.pal' provided in the tut i read in users.telnet.be

i made a sweet logon screen out of the same concept & image last night, but this is simply kickin' my butt. i am gonna' post the BootSkin package here in case any1 has a free minute & could get me on track. i also tried the tut that was posted specifically for PSP in these forums, but all the image links must have expired, so i had no real way to reference my errors.

here's a look @ what i was tryin' 2 do - my hat's way off 2 the image creator... and yes, i'm using my login name as the p-bar :HOT:

You are using colors in progress bar that are not from the 16 color palette of screen image. Palette for screen image goes from 5 5 5 to 128 128 128, prog image has 0 0 0, 192 192 192, 255 255 255 in it. Progress must use colors from 16 colors of screen image. Also your progress bar image is to big, size for it is 22x9.
Progress bar will leave a trail where it has passed, colors path with darkest color used.

ANY 16 colours can be used....but ONLY 16 colours.

BOTH images must use colours from the SAME palette.

ONLY the palette needs to have 16 colours.

The images can have less.

They CANNOT have more.

Once those rules are observed/adhered-to you will have NO colour issues.

Size is VGA. That means 'wall' must be 640x480.

Progress bar image must be 22x9.

That's about it, really.

Skinning doesn't get much simpler than this.

Remember ...if the wall image is NOT your own...provide a link to its source in the description with the submission so that permission to redistribute publicly can be checked.

One particular person has been spamming the uploads [a dozen a day] with NO info on sources...so is having them summarily rejected en-mass.....until he does....
