Supervisor of the Year

As I wrote about in another article, I attended the company Christmas awards banquet tonight, wholly against my will. My boss made me go and even came and picked me up to make sure I would be there.
The food was excellent. I had some very nice blackened Mahi, and some tasty prime rib, along with a few drinks. It was a pretty good time, not all of the boring speeches and stuff I expected. Everyone was pretty relaxed. I was among the best dressed there, far better dressed than my bosses. I wore a nice pair of grey slacks, a black shirt, brilliant blue and black tie, and a grey wool sport coat. I was the only one wearing a tie.
After the dinner, desert, and cigars, it was awards time. they gave out awards for "best new up and coming officer", "most dedicated officer", and so forth and so on. I didn't get any of them. The last award they gave was for Supervisor of the Year, and said my name.
Huh? Me? No way! I haven't even worked there all that long.
Well, after all the picture taking and hand shaking and congrats and all, I was still a bit bewildered. Our client's rep at the site I manage was there, and congratulated me. He'd had some very nice things to say about me during the presentation, and I let him know how much I appreciated it.
So now I'm back home again with my framed certificate and very nice looking engraved trophy. Oh yeah, and the nice bonus check that went with it.

Congratulations.
Just goes to show you that people are paying attention and noticing what a great job you're doing even when you don't think twice about it.
