New MSN beta invites (formerly "Anyone on MSN?")

New MSN beta invites (formerly "Anyone on MSN?")

Perhaps this reveals just what a loser I am, the fact that I have to come here begging for e-friends.

Nevertheless, here I am, doing just that. I received an invitation to participate in the beta for Windows Live Messenger, the next generation of the whole MSN messenger and such. The thing is, since I don't use my MSN email address that much, I don't have that many contacts who are on MSN (or Hotmail, you know the game). I would like to actually test this new software, so I am humbly asking for people who are interested or willing to allow me to add them to my MSN messenger contact list.

Don't worry, I promise I am not trying to get email addresses for SPAM purposes, or anything nefarious such as that. I just figured I would actually participate in this beta since I received the invite. Here is my MSN info, that anyone interested may add: PeteyjonesATmsnDOTcom

Obviously, the words instead of the symbols are to prevent random email harvesting for SPAM bots. Thanks gang.

Edit: Well, I was mailed three more beta invitations this morning, so if anyone is interested in an invitation to use Windows Live Messenger beta, send me an email at the above MSN email address. I will send invites to the first three interested emails or IM's I receive (if I am online).

I got another 5 this morning, hence this latest round. I am all out again, but Sembetu will be the first to get an invite when I get the next round. Anyone else interested, just let me know.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 29, 2005--ESET, a global provider of security software for enterprises and consumers, issued a warning today about a potentially harmful worm that lures users to download the latest version of MSN Messenger. The worm is spread via a URL prompting MSN Messenger users to download a Beta copy of Version 8.0 of the instant messenger software. Once the user accesses the phony URL, they become victims of an automatic download that installs a Trojan on the user's computer, opening the door to additional threats. The recent MSN scam highlights the enhanced risk of downloading unauthorized software that ultimately compromise security and are the source of malicious code.

As long as people pay attention to where they are downloading from, they should be just fine.
