Too many times Christmas

Christmas used to be such a great time for me as a kid. Even as a young adult, I enjoyed Christmas. Now that I am older and married without children, it just seems to get in my way.

I will celebrate one Christmas on the 17th, one on the 24th, one on the 25th and as I have just been informed one on the 30th. Normally I don't mind too much of the running around to go here or there but this year is just too much. Four family Christmases to attend.

I am really unhappy about the last one though. I am going to have to travel to a city that I would have already traveled to on the two previous weekends. To top that off I will have to give up my Independence Bowl tickets (50 yard line - the company gets them every year). Oh yeah, and my anniversary is on the 31st.

I don't enjoy the people involved in the last Christmas. They don't know who I am and they really don't care. I am an alien. I have no children and most of them are working on 4 and 5. I think they are all sneaky, dirty people. However, if I choose to beg them off my mom will have a conniption fit. I am just not willing to pay that price.

Oh well, at least I still have this weekend.

I remember as a kid having a Christmas at home, and one at each set of grandparents' house (full presents at each, yay!) and it was so fun. I guess I never thought of what it felt like for my parents to drag us around from place to place and deal with family members without much of a break.

We're stuck here in Hawaii and won't see any of our family this year. Haha. I suppose I should be grateful.

PS - You should definitely figure out a way to get out of that last one.

Boy, I can identify with this one! We're having an early Christmas on the 17th as well because my kids are going to be with their dad on Christmas day. Then of course, there's the 24th & 25th which I believe I will be spending with my boyfriend's extended family... which I'm a little nervous about, and then, if there's time, I may run down to my Grandmother's to do Xmas with my own extended family!

I've sworn that I will never make my kids have to do the 3 Xmas celebrations on Christmas Day like my brother in law has to do (parent's divorced, my family, extended family, etc), but maybe getting them all over on one day is merciful somehow!

Anyhow, I feel your pain... I just wish OU was going to the Independence bowl so I could bum your football tickets off you!

I wouldn't take a present though, I'd tell them just being there is YOUR gift to them!

Spend it with her.  She will not be around forever.  My Grandmother passed away 8 years ago.  I miss her Christmases.

We do that silly gift exchange thing. They always choose some stupid theme and set a $10 limit. Usually it ends up being a competition to see who can get stuck with the crappiest gift.
