WHAT DID I DO?

For some strange reason I am being ignored here on joeuser. Have I worn my welcome out? I cannot remember that last time I had a feature article, and I have had more than a few over 100 or near 100 responses to some of them and still have not been featured.

Maybe it's time for me to pack my cyber bags and move on. {NO THIS IS NOT A PLEA FOR "PLEASE STAY"}

Have I done something to the admin? I have not been able to give a trolling or an insightful for months now and am tired of complaining about it.

I cannot remember the last time one of staff has even commented on an article of mine, except to chastise me for the "ding dong the witch is dead" article.

Am I that boring? Have I nothing of interest to say?

gahhhhhh!!!!!!! *spit*

My most recent article about DISINFORMATION\ is well written yet has received nothing in the way of comments, wtf is going on?

I am not ignoring you!  I was busy today.  Crunch before the holidays!

You always get my attention, and I do try to leave a note!  Over the next week, they will be few due to my schedule!

I read but I only comment if I think I have something of interest to say. I could start coming on all of your blogs and saying - great blog dude! if that would make you happy.

I don't know how they pick featured articles but I would be thrilled to ever have anything with over 100 comments. That's awesome. I think I have had three articles featured in the almost three years I've been here but I don't think I'm that prolific or talented. I just put my stuff out there and see where it all goes. Actually when I looked through some of my old articles most were way lame-o. I used to think I was a good writer until I actually started writing. Now I just am what I am like popeye but cuter without the spinach and pipe.

You know I ALWAYS read your stuff. Just a bunch of junk happening lately. Biggest one is trying to refinish my hardwood floors (bummer). And on top of all that, my computer has started acting buggy. Think my H/D is going south.

I can never figure out what gets an article featured and what causes another to not be. I'd say several of yours should have been and weren't.

Anyway, keep writing. I don't comment as often as I should, but I do read.

Moderateman: I think it's somewhat random, really.

Brad isn't on all the time, and it seems that when he does check JoeUser he chooses a couple of recent articles to feature. Timing is as important at content. Something may be perfect feature material, but if Brad doesn't get the chance to see it, it doesn't make it to the front page. And there have been things that I haven't been all that impressed with, but were posted at the right time and on the right topic that have been featured.

Guaranteed features: Brad's articles, JillUser's articles, and Karma's articles. Terpfan, Dr.Guy, Bakerstreet, and you are also regularly featured. Little Whip and dharmagrl are not featured quite as much, but still fairly often.

I think the key elements to being featured are (in the order of importance to being considered for being featured):

1. Posted at a good time for Brad to run into it.
2. Written about a topic that is very current or is of interest to Brad (even if the stance taken by the author is one that he doesn't agree with).
3. Written with a fair amount of skill.

But anyways, you know I adore you. I think you're great and I think you fill a perfect little niche at JU and it wouldn't be the same without you.

thanx mason, I have no idea how things work there either, I just find it kinda strange ever since myrrander commented about a feature I had that was only a couple sentences long {he was whining as usual} I have not been featured since. I think somehow I has pissed off the powers that run this joint.
