Please fix the disappearing applications bug in SVD
from
WinCustomize Forums
I know that there have been posts on this before and that it is in the queue for Stardock Virtual Desktops (SVD) to investigate why applications disappear from one desktop when you click away to another desktop and then back.
This happens all the time to me mainly with Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. I know other users have the same issue with Lotus Notes and other apps as well. Also, MS Excel doesn't disappear completely, just all the menu bar and any other toolbar currently loaded. All menus and toolbars are gone when you come back to that desktop after clicking away.
I currently (try) to use SVD to avoid having to minimize applications all the time and to have static desktops based on my needs as a software developer. I currently have SVD configured for 10 desktops, but only use a few of them since I have to have IE and explorer.exe 'excluded' so that they show up on every desktop. It has gotten to the point of frustration that it doesn't make sense to use SVD since it does not serve its purpose. Why use it if it defeats the point?
I often have more than one explorer.exe and several IE windows open so that is a lot of unnecessary window minimizing (or via WB setting the right click on the application bar to roll up the window). Just like with standard XP.
This bug is getting more and more frustrating since I can't use SVD the way it was designed it has been out there for several months without any resolution.
Please push this issue to the top of the SVD queue and post a fix soon. Otherwise, some users like me may uninstall move on to some other app (if they can find one).
Are there any other virtual desktop manager applications out there that people use that don't have this issue? Let me know, I may check it out.
Regards,
Craig
