After about 33 years, I can't be bothered to watch. I couldn't afford season tickets before the lockout and now that I can, I'm still unconvinced that the game has improved enough that I should.
What I absolutely hate:
- rink is too small for today's players
- commercial timeouts suck the life out the play
- too many teams == talent is spread too thin
None of the above will be willingly addressed by the NHL because they all cost money and don't guarantee a return.
Well, my small consumer's protest is to stay away from the NHL product and only watch international tournaments (especially World Juniors and Olympics) where all of the above are addressed -- and it shows!
