More Than You Know
Album: Martika
Year: 1989
Martika is hesitant to reveal her feelings to her crush in the buoyant "More Than You Know."
Easygoing keyboards start the single. Martika, who has likely practiced the speech many times in the mirror, explains her sudden spark. She tells it's there because of him. She's admitting to flirting with him. They have been dancing around the issue for a while. Now is the right time to talk about what might be happening between them.
She's been holding her feelings for him inside for a long time. She tells she was fated to meet him and be his girlfriend forever.
In the chorus she says he's unaware of how much she loves him. She's risking losing his friendship. However, it's something she needed to say.
She's fixated on him and cannot look at anyone else. She's fully aware that comes across as a stalker, though. However, she says it anyway. When he eats his dinner or dials the phone, she's in a daze and can't concentrate.
She confesses she has no idea if he thinks he likes her back. She would like him to respond.
In the bridge, she apologizes for putting him on the spot. However, it just spilled out. She would do anything for him.
"More Than You Know," while a dated, by-the-numbers Madonna imitation, still shines. Martika's wholehearted vocals give the single some much needed emotion. Her voice may technically not be great, but it's fulll of vulnerability. The dance beat is also unpretenious and engaging.

"I love you more than you know/
This feeling's so strong inside/I won't let you go/I'm afraid to show it/'Cause I don't wanna blow it/
I love you more than you know."

"I don't mean to put you under pressure/But it's something that I can't control/And thought I'd give you the world if I could/I'm afraid to let you know/'Cause I don't wanna lose your love."
