possible screwed up my printer , need some help

I have a hp 1350 all in one series. I recentily had to repair windows xp , now I can't seem to use my printer. I uninstalled all the software for it, and when I go to install it, it gets to the point where I have to plug in the USB cable between computer and printer, but when I do, the computer doesn't recogize it. Also I noticed when I run msconfig, the plug and play under services is disabled, not sure how. So is the problem related to windows or the cable itself?  If anyone has any ideas please post, I got papers due in a few days and need my printer

you need plug & play probably enabled - since that's how xp pretty much operates.. i have a hp psc 1350 also - mine gets stubborn sometimes too... i ended up having to download the software/drivers from online cuz my disk wasnt' working right for installing my printer. do you have other USB products plugged in? if not, try something else and make sure it isn't your usb ports - also do you have usb 2.0 drivers installed? i'm not sure what the printer requires, but i've only used it with usb 2 drivers installed. good luck try checking out the hp website also, maybe you'll find something helpful there too

I think this issue was resolved last night before the server crash.
