Road Construction Rage

Yesterday it took me over 20mins to drive a straight line of 5 miles!  Why, because there were to spots of road construction.  The second area I was aware of but the first had no warning.  There was no "Road work ahead" sign.  No ones anywhere.  Just a couple of doofs with signs in their hands standing in the intersection holding up north/south traffic for no apparent reason!

Evreyone was very tolerant for the first two lights we were kept waiting.  By the time the fourth light started we all started laying on our horns.  This seemed to wake them up and allow us to proceed.  They were tearing up the road but there was no apparent reason that they caused the backup that they did.

At least there were "one lane ahead" warnings at the other construction site so you had ample time to decide if it would be prudent to find another route.  They had much more construction going on than the previous site but traffic got through quicker I think largely to the fact that the only people who were still there knew what they were in for.

Well, as they say in Michigan, there are two seasons, Winter and Road Construction.

There is a mini scandal goin gon down here where one of the Interstates is getting really potted.  The Local press is comparing it to 275!  As in, "Why did they make 295 as bad as 275????"

here in california we have _caltrans_ they do the roadwork here,. you always see 6 people, 1 supervisor, not doing a darn thing, 3 people on break or something cause they sure are not working,One guy busting his buns and 2 people holding signs.

Our roads take a pounding jill, so there is always work {ha!} going on somewhere usually times so that they have to make everything one lane, during rush hour too.

I totally understand that there is always work that needs to be done. I am just discouraged that there seems to be no planning or warning involved. I also get fed up when they just run out and throw shovels full of asphalt into pot holes. They might as well be throwing our money directly into the holes! As soon as a truck hits that hole, the asphalt goes flying out because they don't even pound it in!

Let me put it this way, we have white winters whether it snows or not. Forget about having a clean car during the Winter. If you are a fanatic about keeping your car clean, don't drive in Michigan between November and say April!

It has been even worse today! I think pretty much every road between me and where I need to be is under construction!!!
