Per pixel alpha on a budget?

WB5 tells tells me the dreaded truth: "Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha."

Here is my current (circa 2000) set-up:
Motherboard; Asus PC133
CPU: Intel 670 MHz
Memory: 512 MB SDRAM
Video: ATI Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro - 32 MB (AGP)

Please post suggestions for vid upgrade supporting per pixel alpha on a budget.
Thanks

I would buy a new computer, if you can afford it. 670 MHZ.....too slow.

Go for it!

I'm using a BFG NVIDIA FX GeForce 5500 OC PCI that I got at Walmart for 130$. They also have one with AGP port for the same price. So far its working fine with WB5. I had ATI 9200 before, about 99 at Circuit City. The 5500 works a lot better. Some others have had trouble with the 9200 and 9250 drivers supporting WB5. Anything much cheaper will probably have to be found on Ebay, used.

I wouldn't even worry about upgrading your video card until you get a faster processor. My best advice is get a new computer.

yea it does...

you can get a decent complete system nowadays (1.5 ghz or so with a decent vid card) for prolly around 700$ now

I was hoping for less-- I can recycle sound card, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, ethernet card. My USB cards are < USB 2.0, so I should get new ones, but might get by with them for a while...

Then just get a case, cpu/mobo, and hard drive.

case, cpu/mobo, and hard drive

Let's see- I think I'm fine in the hard drive area-- have a 200 GB & a 30 GB, both PC133-- I forgot them on the recycle list.

I believe I need a vid card... I keep reading that on-board video doesn't support everything in WB5.

I guess I need memory, too. Is SDRAM completely obsolete?

So:
Recycle:
hard drives, sound card, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, ethernet card

New:
case, mobo, cpu, memory, video card

(maybe new USB card)

anything else?
