Like someone else said, that's not a very long time.

I guess if you spend a lot of time chatting online, this is a good thing. I don't, so it's not really a big deal to me.

MSN messenger sucks, and Yahoo isn't that much better....

Just curious. Why do they suck?

And what messenger program would you consider in place of them?

What's wrong with MSN? I have to agree Yahoo! and AIM are quite horrible.

Mostly kidding but MSN did mess up my pc and my fiance didn't click the right button and it installed a bunch of crap on her pc. Just had some bad experiences.

It only installs crap if you don't uncheck the boxes about it. I have to say that this is good. I find both IM programs to be good to use in their own way. I just wonder if they will also accept to view either others individual features. Not necessarily implement them, but that when used, you still see it on the other IM. I suppose they won't go that far though.
Still I use Trillian anyway mostly, only firing up the regular IM for a specific feature that isn't implemented by Trillian. Those times are rare though.

What you have to differ from is the IM service and the IM client. If you don't like the client you can get a third party client instead. I got the impression that the MSN IM service and Yahoo IM service will be able to talk to each other and I think that's a good thing.

I have never liked all the 'crap' that yahoo would stick in my registry, and the trouble it was to remove it. And MSN's insistance on sticking itself in my start-ups every chance it got.

I'm new to a lot of this, but was very happy when I found out about GAIM. I liked that it's tabbed (no more multiple windows) and can access AIM, AOL, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ etc. And I don't have all the 'crap' to worry about.

MSN is ok really.. be nice to chat to Yahoo users without having to install Yahoo's crap.

Get Messenger Patch from http://mess.be and Messenger Plus (don't install the sponsor program, you will regret it) and MSN gets tabbed chats, no adverts and is much smoother for it.

I have always been partial to MSN msngr, my girl and I have used it for years. We tried Yahoo too (not my idea )but its cool that users will be able to interact with both programs

Ah, I personally don't like any of the messenger clients, AIM, Yahoo, MSN, you name it they are bloated and usually have ads or some other flashy nonsense that only serves to annoy. So, my client of choice is Trillian. it lets me log on to any combination of chat networks simultaneously and I can keep my contacts in any groups I want. I'm currently logged into 2 MSN accounts, my Yahoo account and my AIM account all for a measly 23 MB of memory. Which in comparison isn't all that bad when you look at the 237 MB devstudio is gobbling up.. Oh well, memory is cheap!!
