What You Can Get for the Price of a Pizza

I just saved a bunch of money...and NOT by switching to Geico!

I'm so excited! And it's really sad that this is all it takes to excite me.

I got an email from gap.com with a promo code for free shipping. This alone is very cool. That's a savings of at least $6 on my order.

So, I went to the site and looked at clearance kids clothes (NEVER buy full price GAP kids clothes, ever), but they mostly had winter clothes and the summer clothes they did have are still overpriced. Bummer. But my kids have tons of clothes anyways.

I went to the women's site...JACKPOT!! They have tons of jeans, blazers, skirts, dress shirts and t-shirts on clearance right now. Some really great bargains. Unfortunately, my free shipping is only good for two days, and even more unfortunately, we don't get paid until Friday.

So, no jeans or skirts or blazers.

But...BUT...

I found these cute, colorful t-shirts on sale for $5. That's a good price anywhere. And GAP/Old Navy t-shirts are the softest, comfiest shirts around.

The shirts are marked down from $20! Woohoo!

I added it up, and I saved around $50 on my purchase...only spent about 15 bucks. How awesome is that? I got three shirts for less than what one would have cost me full price!

Ok, ok, this is a silly thing to be so happy about, but geez, I LOVE clearance sales! And I love me some soft, light-weight t-shirts!

Woo-freakin-hoo!

Pizza looks better on me

Haha. Nice reply.

PS - I LOVE pizza.

Mr.Frog:
So you'll have to model the T-shirt a la Gap once you get them.

Do I have to cut the top of my head out of the picture, too?

Hahaha. Well, I did think long and hard about whether I needed them or not. And I do. Of course I do! Besides, $15! C'mon!

Congratulations on your good luck.

Why thank you!

Jill:

Hehe. Getting a good bargain is a thrill. It's like feeling the challenge and reward of a sport. And it's cheaper than golf or paintball!

R u kidding me?! Any day is good for a sale and be happy about it! I agree about never buying full price at the Gap, they always have great bargains plus their clothes fit so well. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to check them out!

I love the style of GAP clothes, and you're right...great fit! My boys only wear GAP jeans because they have those great elastic bands and buttons to adjust the waist...they can wear them so much longer that way!

And their sales are AWESOME! I've gotten t-shirts for the boys for 99 cents there before.

Thanks for the tip, I'm going to check them out!

You'll have to post a pic if you find something cute!

Very much like a few women I know well: "Look how much I saved by buying this thing that I wouldn't've bought had it not been on sale!"

Still, it is a good bargain.

That is TOTALLY sexy!! Pizza is the ultimate aphrodisiac, hehe.

(I like pizza as much as the TMNTs do!)

What? I didn't understand that. (No coffee yet!)

Hahahahhahaa...that's sure putting a negative spin on it!

Still, it is a good bargain.

I thought so. I love getting expensive stuff for cheap.

Meh. I just found a very nicely kept secondhand sports jacket (VERY hard to find in my size) for $6 (normal retail for sports jackets is about $200), so there!

LOL

That's my girl! Spoken like a true bargain shopper!

If you guys have time left in service when you get orders out of Hawaii, I'm going to be rooting for you to get stationed at Ft Leonard Wood. I live about 2 hours away from there...we could go bargain hunting together!

Ha! I can beat that!

I got a leather blazer from the thrift store for $2 once, and this past summer I got brand new Gap jeans for my boys for $1 a pair at a yard sale.

I'm the veritable queen of bargain shopping on my street!

dharma,

Nonetheless, it's good to see others who hold fast to Gideon's rule (NEVER pay retail!)

I'd love for ya'll to get together, but man, I've been at Leonard Wood, and I wouldn't wish that place even on people I wouldn't waste piss on if they were on fire. Much less you'uns, of course.

I've been at Leonard Wood

Dave went to police investigator school there. 'Fort Lost-In-The Woods, he called it.

Excellent! Wow.

That's one thing I miss about Texas...garage sales, second hand shops, and great bargains at stores.

I'm picky about garage sales, though. If it's disorganized, it freaks me out...like almost phobia kinda freaks me out. I can only do garage sales if things are set up well. Weird, I know.

We're here for the length of his tour, heh, and if he goes to Iraq in August like the guys here are slated for, he'll get extended and we'll be here even longer.

There's a chance he'll re-enlist. It changes from one day to the next, lol.

I'd love to have a shopping buddy, though!

Nice. I don't know if it's a chain store or not, but in Amarillo they have this second hand store called Once Upon a Child...when my kids were smaller almost all their clothes came from there. It was all Gap and Old Navy and Gymboree.

I miss that place...I really dig Gap kids' clothes, and the Gaps here are not big on selection or clearance sales. Heh, last March I went Gap shopping for the kids...bought sale stuff...still spent $400.

Adrian wasn't home yet. What he don't know, won't hurt him.

I've heard REALLY bad things about Ft. Leonard Wood (Ft. Lost-in-the-woods). Ft. Sam is our optimal choice. (Heh, and Ft. Hood is not on our list of bases we'd like to be stationed at!)

There's a really good reason why the nickname for that place is Ft Lost-in-the-woods. Man, 6 weeks there and I was bored to tears by the time we left. And that's with working 12 hour days while we were there!

Oh heck yes! I really detest paying full-price for anything. Our local BX has these one day sales where you can get an aditional 50% off the clearance priced clothing. I got a Ralph Lauren polo jean jacket over there the last time they did that - it was marked at $60, and had 75% off it - making it $15. Take an additional 50% off that - I ended up paying $7.50 for it.

I LOVE sale shopping!

Once Upon a Child...

It's a chain. A consignment shop for baby clothes/equipment.

Nice place. We managed to find some little girl clothes there for 5% of the retail price (and I only know the retail price 'cause it still had the original Cartier's tag on it).

You know what's really funny? My daughter just turned ... 4? (My God! Has it been that long???) in April. In March she was still wearing 24 month clothes. We finally boxed that stuff up and dropped by the Once Upon A Child in the next town over.

Sheesh.

Haha, yeah, I've heard that it's ugly and that there's nothing there. It's good, as a military family, to know how to make your own fun, but there's only so much of your own fun you can make!

That's incredible! Congrats!

The other day I found this gorgeous trench coat. I don't remember the brand, but it had a large black and white floral pattern on it with pink accents, and the cut was great. That sounds lame, I know, but you'd have to have seen it. It was adorable.

It was marked down to $15 from about $70...I almost bought it. I have a hard time buying stuff for myself, though, and I thought..."when am I going to wear a trench coat?"

Ah, well. Although...it would be a cute way to greet Adrian when he comes home from work...nah, nevermind.

Sweet. I'm glad to hear that. I thought it was a terrific store. They were picky about what they accepted for consignment and only put out clean, newish-looking clothes, usually name brand. The prices were great, too.

Did you mean 50%?

Haha. Depending on the brand, some baby stuff can last a long time. My youngest, who just turned 5, had been wearing a pair of 24 mo. shorts up until recently (we give their old clothes to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and those shorts recently made the charity pile). They still fit him just fine. Weird.

True. And, while I was making a stab at humor, I'm trying to quit that bit. Thanks for pointing it out.

I know what you mean about the garage sales. I never seem to have the time to stop, but there's always two or three going on along the route home from work, especially on four day weekends, and as the seasons change.

Good luck bargain hunting!
