Downloading TV Shows
Pirate or No?

Well I just saw the "New Sci-Fi Friday Starts Tonight" thread again and realized how much I hate not having Sci-Fi channel anymore. And since the only way to get it is to pay +$40/month on my current bill, its basically not going to happen. But along with that revelation came the idea that I could always DOWNLOAD the shows that I wanted...so then THAT (follow along to the rambling) got me wondering what your guys views are on downloading TV shows, a series like 24 is almost ruined if you miss an episode, certainly two.
My theory on the whole thing (and to my knowledge there has never been ANYONE taken to court over tv downloading, even episodes that were ripped from a seasonal DVD) is that its just another step from taping the show and watching it later, or an advanced TiVO. The only real difference is that its being distributed to alot more people which I can see why this would irk companies. The only time I have ever downloaded shows in the past was for a missed episode of 24 or a really good Simpsons, were if I hadn't downloaded the episode in question I would have probably of stopped watching the show. Which at that point Fox would probably rather I download the show
