What a Sexed Up Nation!

you've prolly heard this before... but i just wanted to voice my opinions :)

you know, if you listen to about any top-hit song, or any modern song for that matter, it has a kind of sexual idiom or similie or metaphor or any of that figurative language jazz.
for example... "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" well come on, its in the title!

and you know, i betcha if you listen to the news tonight at 6 there will be some report about sexual harrassment, rape, or seducement.

yeah, I'm sure sex is amazing. (not that i know from experience...) but it kills our nation all over the place! our society revolves around getting sex, looking sexy, smelling like sex, getting the best sex, attracting the opposite sex (not the same, but you know...)
sex, sex, sex.

do we have any decency left in our attraction-crazy, seducted, sexed-up minds?
or is decency not important anymore, because eventually everybody has sex and has it hard?

lol, this may sound stupid but... something so pure as an infant's mind being spread with the ideas of sex, lies, alchohol, drugs, killings, ect... just doesn't appeal to me that much.

maybe i'm way off track. and look at me, the hypocrite of all time for talking, but... geez, y'all. and i know, its the American nature and all that lovely junk.
i just want to know opinions. do you think America is too sexed up? or do you love it that way... or is it both and you wish something could change?
just wondering...

I'd have to agree that the world we live in is overly sexed up. It's kind of a shame that our youth today(by which I mean preteens and lower) already know too much about sex...and the kinkiness that comes with some of it. Sure, sex is great and all(well, so I hear) but does it have to take hold of our youth and work its way into every wrinkle of society. For instance, take Disney movies...most are heartwarming and usually quite tame...but what is with the sexy women they have in all the movies? This is supposed to entertain kids...not show them animated sex symbols. Once you're a teenager, I believe it's time to learn about all that....but, kids(still meaning preteens and lower) these days know more about sex than their parents...and that is just over my head.

Now, I do like a sexed up America...I mean, it's quite amusing but kids should stay away from this stuff.

P.S. I love you, Liv

Want to know what I find really annoying? The over sex of civilization is one of them, but those darn Kidz Bop Cd's just make me want to spit nails. Encouraging preteen and younger children to sing along with these songs is just obscene.

"I walk this lonely road, the only one that I have ever know" (Green Day)

"I don't wanna be lonely no more, I don't want to have to pay for this, I don't want another lover at my door, who's just another heartache on my list" (Rob Thomas)

Just a sample of the Kidz Bop Cd the was recently released, goes right along with the over sexed nation we live in. Guess we are trying to raise a bunch of manic depressive, co-dependents too.

Hmm..Well I like sex, actually I love it. Haven't regretting doing it for a second...and i doubt i ever will. But I do think that the media definately gives kids a very fucked ideas about sex. I don't know, there are those who have sex with anyone, and then there are those who wait for the perfect timing, the perfect place i think there both the same..annoying. Well okay you should wait for the right person, because it changes things. It didn't completely alter my life or anything, but it changed things. But people wait, when the right time is in front of them...and i still don't understand the whole marriage deal. I guess it'll come with time.

Some people have all the luck! How many perfect times do you think a person should get in a lifetime?

I think sex is awesome and to be enjoyed to the fullest WITH MY HUSBAND. I can't imagine being totally free with someone who could walk away the next day and laugh about it with his friends. And if ya can't be free....well what's the point?

Haven't regretting doing it for a second...

No, that comes when you look in your husband's eyes and see him wondering why you couldn't wait for him. Why you gave something that belongs to him to someone who you thought (and obviously wrongly) was "perfect." And when your beloved child asks you if you waited for Dad......

I know it isn't pc to feel this way.....but I am trying to train my boys not to "rob" from the future husband of the girl they're dating at the time. They are young right now, so we are saying kisses, but I will expand as age warrants. I know its like a grain of sand against Hurricane Katrina, but at least I know I tried and they know better. The rest is up to them.

I also know how much peer pressure is out there for girls to have sex. Like you mentioned it is everywhere. So I am not judging, please don't take it that way.

When my best friend and I were Seniors in hs we LIED by implication that we had sex once (seperately!!!!)...that we weren't virgins because everyone we knew was doing it a lot....if what they said was true. It didn't make us new friends or anything but the gals who were doing it felt more comfortable around us I guess..... How stupid were we? So we felt the peer pressure back in the mid 80's too with our big poofy bangs and tight MAdonna leather pants with spiked belt. I remember when "Like a Virgin" was condemned by the Catholic Church (actually Madonna was and everything she sang at the time) and thought scandalous!

I wonder if Madonna will show her kids that naked book she did? Think she will carry it around and hand it out when they are teens to her kid's friends (who just turned 18 because she always said it was for 18 year olds and up) like she did when promoting it? I bet if you asked her at the time she'd have said, "I don't regret a thing."

In the still small dark of the night, I wonder what she says now.

Makes you go hmmmmmm.

I'll use my old standby for this one: blame the media. With articles like Tyra Bank's real breasts that are on the home page of a major search engine, I almost feel sympathetic towards organizations like this.

Oh, I think sex is enjoyed by almost everyone who voluntarily participates in it. But (and AC can correct me if I'm wrong), this article wasn't about whether sex is good or not, but to question why it has to be the prevailing subject in our pop culture.

Yeah, thats what i was aiming for. Sure, sex is great but do we have to influence children with thoughts of it and other things such as swearing, violence, and drugs/alchohol abuse? The media gives the idea to young ones that to do these things, and its just completely wrong. I also tryed to point out that we seem to have less decency every day. Its kinda disgusting but as ParaTed2k said...
Sex, conveinience, and comfort are what makes us the happiest here in America, and we don't seem to mind putting it out there... A LOT.

Yeah, like the first two of those cd's were like older stuff from the 70's and 80's. But now in some recent one they had "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by: Jet in it, and, well come on, these kids are 11 and under!! And they are already under this influence through a supposed children appropriate cd??? its kinda gross.

*sigh* The songs I see that are on there now are completely inappropriate for young children...most of them have cursing (Green Day stuff) or sexual innuendos galore(just about everything)...very few could actually be geared towards the little ones.

I'm surprised they didn't pick "Cold Hearted Bitch" to make the cut. It would have been just as inappropriate.

But hey, other parents can raise their kids how they wanna. I ain't gonna judge 'em.

My kids enjoy rock music, and I've often wondered about the Kids Bop Cds, but watching the commercials, many of the songs advertised don't seem to lend themselves to being "kid friendly"...do they alter the lyrics or do they keep them the same?

Having said that, my kids listen to things like System of a Down, so I don't really have any room to question. Hehe.

they keep them the same as what you'd here on a local Hits radio station
