How can I work around not having a taskbar?

I am tying to put together a desktop without a taskbar. I need to know how to link from an icon to the Start button and how to see what is/was in the taskbar that is not there anymore. Things like this page and other web pages plus programs that are open reside in the taskbar and I would like to see them only in another way or another area of the desktop.

Thanks,
Paul

Some options would be:

1 - ObjectDock Link - the free version offers running task displaying and access, the Plus version adds System Tray (notification area) functionality to display and access the system tray task icons.

2 - Create a complex object(s) using DesktopX standard or pro version.

3 - Start Menu can be accessed in either of these - using a docklet for ObjectDock, or by creating fuctionality in a DesktopX object - the Start Menu can also be displayed by pressing the "Windows" key on the keyboard.

There are probably some other options that I am forgetting.

Here is a Start Menu docklet: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=2373&LibID=29

I haven't found any solutions for entirely getting rid of the taskbar that worked for me (I use a lot of quick-launches)

ObjectDock Plus allows multiple docks, while the freeware version only allows one running instance.

Above was typed before Corky's post. Got sidetracked and forgot to hit "Submit"

Follow Corky's advice.
