I Love a Country Song!

I haven't listened to country music since I lived in Northern Michigan but I caught a performance on TV and fell in love with the song.  My favority song right now is "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Allison Kraus.  It has haunting lyrics and touching music.  It is a very beautiful song that I think anyone could like even if they don't like country music.

Hi JillUser... glad you stumbled upon the song. It's a beautiful song, though its got sad subject matter. The video for it is great. You can find it at CMT.com or similar sites if you care to watch it.

If you are interested, I could give you a few other recommendations for nice "cross over" music, New Country tunes that are easy to listen to. You might check out Chely Wright, especially the song "The River", and a few other tunes from her Metropolitan Hotel cd.

I grew up force fed country, and ignored it for many years, until Shania Twain and Faith Hill were crossing over from pop to country and vice versa. After getting really bored with most stuff on the radio, I started listening to some newer country stuff, including Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and others. There's a ton of good music out there if you give it a listen, though each genre has it's share of crap or tired old stuff.

Oh, another cross-over/folksy type musician you might enjoy: Mary Chapin Carpenter. A favorite at Wolftrap in the D.C. area. Pleasant lyrics and melodies, easy to listen to and enjoy.

Finally, if you want to laugh a little, check out Brad Paisley's song: Celebrity. The video for it is great. So is his Fishin' song. He's a great talent, and has a lot of fun at what he does.

Thanks Terp! I also like Paisley's "Little Moments". The video has a cute ending with his real life wife. I'll have to check out his video for Celebrity. He seems to have really good videos! I caught the one for Alcohol the other day. That's a good tune too although it might be a little too country for people opposed to country music

I don't listen to country as much as I used to, but there's a song now and then that catches my attention. Some recent songs I have liked are Tim Magraw's "Live like you were Dying" and Keith Urban's "You'll think of Me"..I know hard core classic country fans hate this type of country-pop, but , hey, I like them anyway...lol. My boyfriend likes some of the classic stuff like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

Used to listen to country in the 60's, then not again until the early 90's.

If I had the choice to marry any man on earth, it would be Brad Paisley. He is quite the specimen of male studliness. He puts on a really good concert, too.

Jill...if you like that one, he's also got a new song out called "Alcohol" that's quite a hoot...new CD's not out yet though.

Enjoy--he's *GREAT*. He writes most of his own stuff and there isn't an album of his I've bought that I've regretted.

Whiskey Lullaby is one of those that just haunts you. I've got to say that Allison Kraus has the perfect voice for that song. The high, lilting tone of her voice has a haunting quality that just fills the lyrics with a sad tone of regret.

Others that you might enjoy Gary Allen (especially a song called Tough Little Boys). If you like the Mavericks, try a group called Blackhawk. They tend to be more country sounding than the Mavericks, but it's also a more upbeat sound.

I really enjoy the soundtrack from 'Oh Brother Where Art Though' too.
