Publishing, ICE (ice baby), and other news from my corner

Taking a cue from Shadey's blog, here's a general update as proof that I'm still alive.
1. Yup, I'm now an official freelance writer, in addition to my day job. (Would it be lame to have a business card that said, "Anglo P. Esque, Freelance Writer"? Probably.) Nothing exciting or earth-shattering, but some nice portfolio material. If only it were on glossy instead of dirty old newsprint...but I'll get to glossy eventually. And then the kind that's actually bound with something besides staples...ahhh.
2. My cell phone has mysteriously decided to quit ringing. No idea why. I gotta go look up the Verizon update number thingy and then I might get around to calling customer service (did I mention it works just fine? Oh yes, you can call me and I can call you, but I can only answer if I'm looking at the phone and pick it up when I see your caller ID).
3. I finished Harry Potter in a leisurely 36 hours' time. (No, I won't spoil it for any of you who haven't read it yet--though if you haven't read it yet, you're a freak.)
4. Currently I'm reading The Devil Wears Prada (again) since I haven't had time to go to the library to get a new book now that I have to wait 10 years and four lifetimes for the next Harry Potter book to come out. (Damn you, J.K. Rowling, for having a life and a family! *shakes fist* That shouldn't be allowed!)
5. I think H and I are going to do the In Case of Emergency (ICE) thing on our cell phones. It's where you program in an emergency contact into your cell phone and if you're alone and in an accident but your cell phone is unhurt or available, emergency personnel can contact the person listed. With H's medical issues and stuff, it's probably a good idea.
6. This is my first blog in ages, I think. Feels like it, anyway. This whole "job" thing is really cutting into my blogging time.
7. And now i have to go do a very ceremonious load of wash.
8. Oh, and two of my friends got into a big row and aren't speaking to each other anymore. (Hi, how old are we again?) I don't know anything about it and while I prefer it that way, it also prevents me from trying to fix it. (Maybe that's best.)
I really do have to do the wash now.
